To eat, we recommend the following restaurants:
•Solo per Passione, in Santa Colomba, It’s a wonderful place with a family atmosphere, with excellent food. In summer, it’s open in the evening during the week and also at lunch time during the week-end (for winter, check their opening days and times on their website). Massimo Carducci and his team will treat you like Kings (tell them you are staying in Casapiera). They also offer cooking classes.
•Il Ceppo, on the road to Monterggioni. This place is open for breakfast and lunch time only, and it offers cheap and very tasty food, including what are probably the best ‘Pappardelle al Cinghiale’ (large pasta with wild boar sauce) you will ever taste. It is unfortunately closed in August.
•Bar dell’Orso, in Monteriggioni. It’s a bar that does amazing sandwiches and other good food, just outside the walls of Monteriggioni. A very popular place, you may have to queue.
•Il Pozzo, in Monteriggioni. A very nice restaurant inside the walls of Monteriggioni, a bit pricey, but with excellent food and a romantic atmosphere.
There are also a number of bars on the way to Siena, where you can have coffee (espresso and cappuccino), sandwiches, etc., and Wifi. Other restaurants that have been recently recommended to us are ‘Senza Scampo’ (Sea Food), ‘La Sosta Volante’, ‘Baba Zuff’ and ‘Osteria da Divo’ in Siena, and ‘Perucà’ in San Gimignano.
For places to visit, in Siena, visiting Piazza del Campo where the Palio is held twice a year (on 2 July and 15 August, every year) is a must, as well as the Duomo. Strolling along the little streets of Siena is a very pleasurable experience.
Apart from Siena, near Santa Colomba we also recommend to visit Monteriggioni, Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, and Casole d’Elsa. A bit further away (but all within just over an hour of driving), you have San Gimignano and its towers, Volterra and its views, San Galgano, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Cortona, and of course Firenze (Florence).
This is a family home we have had in our family for almost 40 years, and we love coming here to recharge our batteries. We hope it is going to have the same effect on you! The villa, Casapiera, is in Santa Colomba, a very small village not far from Siena (in the Colli Senesi region, North-West of Siena).
From the house, you can see Siena in the distance, including the main tower of Piazza del Campo (where the Palio is held).
We expect our guests to treat the house as if it was theirs.
Pets are allowed, but you need to tell us you are bringing them (what type, and how many).

This house is a family house which we have had for over 30 years, and we use it too. This is where I like to go and recharge my batteries (no TV).
