Captain's Cabin offers a special one-of-a-kind experience. You will enjoy the privacy of your own log cabin with full kitchen and bath that have been lovingly renovated with all the modern conveniences. Tasteful antiques appoint the cabin for a step back in time. We live next door on the property and will be here to greet you when you arrive. On weekends, a gourmet breakfast is brought to your door each morning. During the week, you will enjoy a continental breakfast. We are available for conversation but we also respect your privacy. If you are here during weekday hours, you may see Jan as he often works in his office behind the cabin. You can also request the Captain to tell his tales of the adventures of Lewis & Clark from Kentucky all the way to their destination on the Pacific Ocean. You may even be treated to a piano concert composed by our resident musician.
Captain's Cabin was featured in the April 2015 issue of Country's Best Cabins magazine, "Past is Present" and several other publications. Jan, your host, is a log and timberframe home architect and distributor of Hearthstone Log and Timberframe Homes. HIs homes have been featured in numerous national log and timber frame magazines and books. He can make your dreams of your own log home come true.
Enjoy! No smoking on cabin premises. It's a quiet area so please be respectful. Please don't remove items from the cabin. If you need something, we can probably provide it.
My husband, Jan, and I have enjoyed renovating this authentic vintage log cabin. He is an architect specializing in designing log and timberframe homes. We love the outdoors, hiking and camping. I love to cook healthy meals (vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free are no problem). We love to travel and meet people from all over the world. We have made it our mission to know all there is to know about Louisville since we moved here in 2010. We have lots of restaurant and museum recommendations.
