This is an wonderful third floor apartment in a small town minutes from spectacular hiking. The outdoor patio and living room have spectacular views of the Taunus mountains. Original art works decorate the walls. The apartment comfortably sleeps 4 - two people in two individual twin beds in the bedroom, and two people on a sleeper sofa in the living room. The sleeper sofa has a 140 cm wide mattress. Another couch in the living room can sleep two more people in a pinch.
Guests have access to a functional kitchen, television and radio, a fee for use washer and dryer in the basement, and a covered, outdoor patio to lounge on in warmer weather. One outlet has an American to German electrical adaptor in it for charging computers and cell phones from the States.
Very friendly hosts live across the hall if there are ever any questions.
The neighborhood is quiet and very safe, with a playground across the street, and the woods are a short 2 minute walk up the street. A short walk from the apartment takes you to the 'Burgruine Falkenstein' (castle ruin). The burgruine offers a magnificent view of downtown Frankfurt and the region. There is a Taunus hiking guide in the apartment for your enjoyment. Downtown Koenigstein can be reached on foot by a pleasant 20 minute walk past the Falkenstein castle ruins through the woods. In downtown Koenigstein you will find the castle ruins, great restaurants - both simple and fancy, great shopping, and plenty of grocery stores, cafe's, and bakeries. The Opel Zoo is at the foot of Falkenstein and is a wonderful experience for animal lovers of all ages. Germany's largest Roman fortress, Hessen Park, and the cathedral of Frankfurt are all just a short drive away.
The apartment can be reached by train and bus from the Frankfurt International Airport. The municipal bus is a 3 minute walk away, which can drop you off at the train station where you can travel directly to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in Frankfurt. Alternatively, the Koenigstein train station is a 20 minute walk from the apartment. There is plenty of street parking available.
The greater Frankfurt area is a wonderful stepping stone for seeing many sights in central Germany such as the world famous cathedrals in Cologne and Limburg. The Rhein-Main wine country can be easily enjoyed from here as well. There are many wine festivals in the summer months and many great Christmas markets in December. Heidelberg castle and Schloss Mespelbrunn are nearby as well. Business travels will love the easy access to the banking center and trade shows in downtown Frankfurt. Bad Homburg, Wiesbaden and Mainz are also a short, scenic drive away.
