À propos de ce logement
Immerse yourself in history and stay at our lovely Fifteenth Century, self contained, two-story Coach House in the peaceful, rural village of Lower Broadheath. Just a mile from Sir Edward Elgar's Birthplace Museum and a convenient 3 miles from the picturesque, riverside, Cathedral City of Worcester.
We believe The Coach House dates back to the Tudor period, around 1500 and was the original Coach House to what was Peachley Farm which is now our home; 'Peachley House', a Grade II listed building dating back over 400 years.
The Coach House is a fabulous, historical, tranquil space full of timbers and atmosphere but we've ensured that areas such as the kitchen and bathroom have a modern, clean feel.
Behind your own front door, the space is on two levels with a modern dining kitchen and bathroom on the ground level. The beautiful, spacious, vaulted timbered first floor loft is a large open plan area containing a comfy double bed and a large king size sofa bed, flat screen TV with freeview channels.
There is also a sofa bed in the kitchen so you can comfortably sit in the downstairs area. This can be used as an extra bed for a fifth guest but would incur an additional fee (see terms)
Your stay includes heating in colder months, constant hot water, fresh towels and white cotton bedding, a flat screen TV with freeview channels, DVD player, iPhone/docking station for music, DAB radio, free Wi-Fi and kitchen basics such as tea and coffee.
Upstairs, the bed is a comfy double and the second is a king sized sofa bed, there is also a wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage.
For Our Younger Guests -
I can provide a travel cot and high chair for younger guests - please message me before arrival. There is a permanent wooden stair gate at the top of the stairs which will allow your little ones to roam around upstairs without fear of them taking a fall.
I am also happy to arrange a selection of toys, borrowed from my two, to keep yours occupied, just mention it at booking.
Accès des voyageurs
Our lovely two-story Coach House is completely separate from our own home and it will be your own space behind your own front door, not shared at all. Our home is across the drive from The Coach House so we can be on hand if you need anything.
The Coach House is filled with gorgeous original beams but the kitchen and bathroom have a clean modern feel.
Upstairs, you will have your own open plan bedroom/sitting room, downstairs a well equipped kitchen/diner and spacious bathroom with bath and fabulous shower.
The coach house kitchen / dining area is equipped in order for you to be completely self catering should you wish, with full size integrated undercounter fridge, electric oven with grill, 4-ring gas hob, separate microwave oven, kettle and toaster.
Crockery, cutlery, glasses, utensils and a selection of pans and bowls are also supplied. This area has a dining table seating 4 and a small sofa (sofa bed).
The comfortable upstairs bedroom / sitting loft area is a spacious vaulted open space with beautiful original beams which gives a cosy ambiance. The area has been sectioned so that there is a distinct sleeping area away from the sofa /TV area. Seating for four. Ample radiators ensure that it is kept cosy in the colder months.
Tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided as well as store cupboard essentials such as condiments and olive oil.
In the bathroom, feel free to use the range of toiletries. Hairdryer provided.
I always leave milk and some biscuits so that you can have a drink on arrival!
Free parking for your car on our private gated drive. (If you have more than one vehicle please mention at booking).
Please note the stairs to the upstairs area are quite steep.
Our village is also dark as we have chosen not to have street lights (so you get a great view of the stars on cloud-free nights!), as a result we recommend you leave the outside light on overnight.
Fancy some pampering? - I can put you in touch with a local therapist who will be happy to visit you at The Coach House. They offer a wide range of treatments to include Massage, Facials, Waxing, Manicure / Pedicure etc. Just ask me for details on booking.

The Coach House is located in the small, pretty, rural village of Lower Broadheath, famous for being the birthplace of Sir Edward Elgar, the English composer. Our village houses his birthplace museum and sits within the 'Elgar route'.
We are a five to ten minute walk from a local post office and small village store which is opposite a nice local country garden pub - The Bell Inn. There are several other lovely pubs very close by, within 2 miles. (The Dew Drop and The Crown Inn in Hallow)
There is a Tesco Express with cash point less than 2 miles away at Henwick Park, as well as a fish and chip shop.
There is an abundance of walks and bike trails locally to include The Severn Way and Worcestershire Way and walks beside the Severn and the Teme. Malvern and its Hills are a 20 minute drive away.
There are also lots of local fishing pools locally, the closest being at The Cobhouse, 1.5 miles away.
Being in the centre of England, we feel that we are exceptionally well positioned for the M5, M6, M40 and M42 motorways and for further travel across the UK:
Stratford Upon Avon 24 miles
Cotswolds Villages 30 miles
Warwick 30 miles
Ludlow 21 miles
Birmingham (centre) 32 miles
Biscester Outlet Village 53 miles
Oxford 54 miles
Bristol 55 miles
London (centre) 100 miles
South Wales Coast 80 miles
Edinburgh 260 miles
I have put together a folder of things to do and see locally which will be available in the Coach House to help you make the most of your stay. We will also be happy to suggest places to visit when you arrive. Please also see my guidebook on this site for local recommendations.
The tourist information offices located in both Worcester and Malvern are also excellent for information and ideas.
Lower Broadheath is a village just outside Worcester with a small shop / Post Office and two pubs within walking distance. There are numerous public footpaths within a few moments of the front door. There is a local bus service that serves Lower Broadheath from Worcester Bus Station in the centre of town. (Bus number 310). If you are coming by train then Worcester Foregate Street is the most central one for the bus station. A taxi from town to us is about £8-10.
We are apx a 50 mins drive from Birmingham airport.
If coming by car, we have a private, gated driveway which sits between the Coach House and our own home where you can park.
The Coach House is well fitted out but we are happy for you to use our own non essential items such as iron and board during your stay.
If you stay a week or longer you can use our laundry facilities.
Freezer space can also be arranged.
Please note due to the nature of the old building, I do not recommend the coach house for people with limited mobility as the stairs to the upstairs area are quite steep and there are steps into different rooms. Please ask me if you need any clarification around this.
The Coach House is non smoking and although dog owners ourselves (a very friendly Sprocker called Holly) we like to keep The Coach House pet free for family, friends and guests, so no pets allowed.
We kindly ask that our guests look after our home and use it as though you were staying with a good friend by considering ourselves, our neighbours and our lovely peaceful local area.
We are a friendly, welcoming family with two young children. In 2014, we moved to Worcester after 22 years in London for a better work-life balance and more time as a family. Both my husband and I work in Education.
We love where we live now as it gives us the perfect balance of life in a lovely, rural village with the convenience of having the beautiful City of Worcester just a stone's throw - 3 miles - away. We enjoy being close to Birmingham, Malvern, Warwick, Stratford Upon Avon, The Cotswolds and other lovely towns along the Severn.
In our spare time we enjoy our holidays, camping, gardening, bike riding, walking and socialising.
We are a pretty chilled out family and want you to enjoy your stay at The Coach House so where possible we will be at hand to welcome you and to ensure that you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
