Hayloft is a charming C16th 2 bedroom cottage, both quirky and cosy. It has a fantastic rural location, yet close to the sea. A great hideaway for couples and a fun games room for children and access to fields with fire pit and sunken trampolines. Perfect for surfers, couples and families, as both dog and child friendly. Great location for biking, walking and surfing and has the use of a warm drying room for your wet suits. Space to store bikes and boards. Unlimited Wifi included.
Strawfields is a small rural small holding, consisting of a quirky old farmhouse, two cottages (Hayloft and Owl Barn) and a very small rustic campsite (8 pitches) with 2 Shepherd's huts and Canvas tent.
We are building an outdoor pizza oven with rustic cafe area in front of the farmhouse overlooking the fields where guests can enjoy making their own wood fired pizzas (ask Alex for more details).
Hayloft is a both child friendly and dog friendly. It suits both couples and families. There are acres to explore and a public footpath runs behind the property that goes to our nearest village, West Down, which boasts an excellent pub and village shop. For children there are a range of toys to suit all ages, including scooters, table tennis, air hockey, swing ball, playmobile, lego and sunken trampolines!
Towels and bed linen is provided in the cottage and unlimited Wi-Fi.
The Strawfields menagerie is at present made up of; Inca our dog, Maya and Azzie our kittens, Maebelle and Buckbeak the pygmy goats, Billy and Maggie the Kune Kune pigs and 3 free range chickens, Neymar, Ginny and Eleanor.
Our relaxed friendly atmosphere will hopefully ensure that you have a fantastic holiday, however long or short your stay with us. There is so much to explore , including 4 wonderful sandy beaches as well as many coves and rock pooling beaches. It is a great place for kayaking, surfing, dune sledging and coasteering. The Tarka trail is very family friendly bike riding route along the coast, whilst for the more adventurous the North Devon mountain bike trail is only a few miles away. Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Braunton, Croyde, Exmoor, Lynton and Barnstaple are all within 20 mins drive.

Guests are welcome to explore all of the grounds and there is a communal games room that is shared with ourselves and one other cottage. There are open fields for dog walking just along the public footpath and our dog Inca loves to meet all visitors, especially the furry four legged ones!!

We are available at anytime during your stay, but totally respect your privacy. Perfect for surfers, couples and families, as both dog and child friendly. We live in the adjoining farmhouse, so always on hand for any questions you may have, if you need something please ask. We are able to suggest places to go including dog friendly walks and beaches to visit; we have lots of maps and brochures to help you choose your activities during your stay.
Hayloft is an old 16th century cottage, so does have a few quirky characteristics, not sure there is a straight wall in the cottage!
The second bedroom has shorty bunk beds(5ft9 in length), so only suitable for children,or one small adult in the bottom bunk.
Please ask Alex if you need highchair, baby bath, travel cot, bed sides or anything else to help make your stay more comfortable.
Please mind your head as you enter the property as there is a low doorway!

Please park your car in front of the wall at the top of the yard.
Dogs to be kept on leads in all communal areas, especially when children are about.
Dogs must sleep downstairs in the cottage.

2 adults and 2 children is the maximum amount of people.
Hayloft can sleep 3 adults, but it is not suitable for 4 adults, due to shorty bunk beds in the second bedroom.

We relocated to Devon Sept 2014 to live by the sea and bring our children up in a wonderful rural location. Our favourite hobbies include going to the beach, body boarding, surfing, sand tobogganing and rock pooling. Our best holidays have been camping with family and friends. When I turned 40 a friend and I decided to enter some local triathlons to help us get fit. Loved the open water swimming and cycling, less keen on the running!
