This was our first time to Hawaii and first time using an AirBNB listing, and both experiences were even better than we expected. What we loved about Cyndia's condo the most is the location. We could see the ocean from the balcony, and we were in awe of the mountains surrounding the property having never seen anything like that before. We spent some time at Makaha Beach which was a minute down the road. It was a little busy on the weekends, but never crowded. Towards the right side of the beach, the waves were big and the undertoe strong, even for us Jersey natives (we have some pretty rough waters), but on the left half of the beach, the ocean was much calmer and relaxing, almost like the Gulf of Mexico. It was clear, warm, and awesome. We were a little leery about the locals on this part of the island because of things we've heard and read, but we didn't have one bad experience. As for the condo, it looked exactly like the photos in the listing, and very clean. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for all our stuff. Speaking of stuff, be prepared to haul your luggage up three flights of stairs (which can be a little frustrating after an 11 hour flight, delay at the rental car desk, and awake for 22 hours straight). I admit I was a little discouraged after a long day, when we opened the door and it was pretty stuffy in there because everything had been closed up. But once we opened the windows and got the fans going, the breeze came through and made it very comfortable, and it stayed that way the whole rest of the time. We slept very well with the cool breeze and the comfortable beds. Because the condo is located away from all the tourism, be prepared to do a lot of driving, as there are few highways on Oahu, just due to the natural topography. One day, we took a leisurely drive to the windward side of the island, and decided to stop at Hanauma Bay. Well, apparently you can't just show up there on a whim, as it was about 10 am and the parking lot was full. They close the gates after the first 3000 visitors, which is usually by 7-8am. The gates open at 6. So the next morning, we got up at 4:30 am, made the hour-long drive in the dark, and arrived there about 5:45am. There was one car idling at the gate, so we got behind them. Then a line started to form behind us. We were the second car admitted, and it was worth it because we had the whole place practically to ourselves so it was quiet and peaceful as we watched the sunrise over the bay, PLUS they don't start charging for parking or admission until the office opens at 7am, so we got in for free! If you want to see tourist destinations, this condo is far removed from any amenities. The drive to Waikiki Beach is slightly over an hour (one way). However, if you want to enjoy a quiet, Hawaiian experience away from Honolulu, this spot's ok. The place is located in a not so affluent part of town. The nearby beaches are overrun by homeless, so make sure to lock up.

This is a great spot for a secluded stay away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Waikiki / Honolulu. It takes approximately an hour to get anywhere else on the island but there are some hidden gems on the west side that most tourists don't get to see. I highly recommend catching the sunset at Kaena Point and snorkeling by the power plant. It's a lot less crowded than Hanauma Bay and cleaner! The condo was well stocked and the community out there was friendly and welcoming. Mahalo!

Tolle saubere Unterkunft im 3.Stock mit schönem Blick auf's Meer. Das Condo hat zwar keine AC, aber die Ventilatoren bringen einiges. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr sauber. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen!!

Cyndia's place is tidy, clean and homely. We loved that it was secure and we did not mind that it is on the 3rd floor, the views and breeze make up for the stairs. The loft area was great for our 11 year old son and provided a valuable extra space. The apartment is very well stocked and provides for so many items in the kitchen and lots for the beach. We did not think the beach was walkable, mainly due to the heat and having to carry chairs etc and preferred to drive the short distance. The pool was great, open to 9pm each night. There is no air conditioning but there are plenty of fans and opening windows to let the breeze through. Having a coffee machine and being able to cook your own food makes this place better than a hotel in our opinion. Stopping in at Kapolei Safeway along the way was easy. Thank you Cyndia, your place is great!!!
