Le logement

Escape the hustle and bustle. Our Guesthouse was created as a private serene space where guests can experience the colourful greenery, rolling hills and natural light that floods into the neutral interior. The private deck too was designed to mesh with the surrounding environment and to maximise the view across the forty acres of lush bushland, complete with an outdoor wood fired chiminea for the colder months. The large beautifully appointed bedroom - with two queen sized beds, a fold-out bed (on request), european panel heating & air-conditioning - is a serene space featuring the simplicity of plywood walls, bamboo timber flooring but still with a country feel. (Please note, the bedroom and the kitchenette both open out to the deck and are joined only by the covered area. Going from the bedroom to the bathroom for example, means you will be stepping out to the deck, walk 2 metres to the kitchenette and through to the bathroom, as there are no connecting doors). The bathroom, with European panelled heating, and the kitchenette, both situated off the private deck, have a contemporary sleek design with handcrafted cedar and blackwood finishes. The Guesthouse features an outdoor wood fired Chiminea, outdoor gas heater, coffee pod machine, microwave, a modern gas BBQ, an electric plug in hotplate, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, in addition to a washing machine and refrigerator. Winding country roads, magnificent walking trails within the National Park and a local winery at our door are but some of the features of the area. Our Guesthouse is the ideal bush retreat for people seeking a quiet country getaway or digital detox, not too far from the city but close enough to Yarra Valley's finest wineries, restaurants and numerous other activities.

Accès des voyageurs

The Guesthouse does adjoin our family home, however you will experience absolute privacy as it is on the opposing side of a very large American Barn style building. It features an exclusive very private entrance, bedroom, deck, kitchenette, bathroom and car space. Please feel free to take a walk across our paddocks or along the twisting creek that borders the entire property, it is rambling but lovely.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I can be available for any assistance you require throughout your stay only if you so desire, otherwise you can expect absolute privacy.

Le quartier

We are situated within the National Park and many walking trails are at our doorstep. There are two pub-style restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive of the Guesthouse, however, if you're happy to drive a little further, you shall find countless award winning restaurants and wineries within the surrounding Yarra Valley.
Philip Lobley Wines and Wild Crust Bakery (Commercial Bakery) are situated across the road and can be visited by appointment (please ask me for further details).
Walking and cycling tracks are located throughout the National Park, in addition to numerous beautiful horse trails.
Yering, Healesville, Yarra Glen, Yea and Toolangi to name a few, are all within a 25 minute drive of Glenburn.

The Guesthouse in Glenburn is only a 65km short drive north of Melbourne, just off the Melba Highway, heading towards Yea. Please ask me for detailed directions before you embark on your journey.

Autres remarques

We are on Instagram (binahguesthouseglenburn) and (Binah Guesthouse in Glenburn) too so take a look for more information and photos. To access the bathroom or kitchenette at night from the bedroom, you will be stepping out onto the deck, it is covered but this may be disconcerting for some people at night. The closest supermarket is a 10 minute drive from the Guesthouse, as is the local country pub. A little further, 15-30 minute drive you will find an abundance of restaurants and wineries to choose from.
I am an Auslan/English (Australian Sign Language) Interpreter and Translator.
The birds do sing a lot and early in the morning.
We are a rain water property, therefore being water wise would be appreciated.
Glenburn and it's surroundings are magnificent for cyclists and bush walkers.
Our cat Leelou or very young Jack Russell x Frida could be out for a stroll so please drive into the property slowly. Leelou is very shy but Frida is certainly not.
We have a coffee pod machine, TV, DVD player, microwave, a modern gas BBQ, toaster, plug in hotplate, kettle, crockery and cutlery, porta cot (on request), in addition to a washing machine and refrigerator and the bedroom is air conditioned.
A breakfast hamper with locally baked sour dough bread, a selection of teas, coffee pods, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper and local Free- Range (nomadic) Tom's Paddock eggs (when available) shall be provided.
Telstra Mobile customers can expect full coverage in the area, other providers such as Optus, Vodaphone and Virgin will find coverage very limited.
You will find flashing coloured lighting on the gate at night to indicate you have found the right drive way.

Règlement intérieur
Ne convient pas aux animaux
Pas de fête ni de soirée
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait à partir de 15:00

I will be in touch a day or so prior to your arrival to establish your check-in time or to arrange for key collection; we are more often than not available to check you in. At night you will find flashing coloured lights out front to indicate you have found the correct driveway. Telstra customers can expect full coverage in the area but please note, Optus, Vodaphone and Virgin have very limited coverage.
The gas bottles for the BBQ and the outdoor heater must be turned off after use.
The wood fired chiminea needs to be extinguished prior to retiring for the evening or departing the property.
Please if you could do your best to not wear shoes inside, that would be really appreciated as it can get a little grubby underfoot. I would suggest bringing slippers or warm socks with you during the colder months.
Please be water wise as we are a rain water property only.
No smoking inside the building or in covered areas.
Please do not place any foreign objects down the toilet.
Please drive into the property slowly, as we have little ones and pets.

It was perfect place to spend Mothers Day with the family, very private and rural. We loved hanging out on the deck, which had a bbq (& a swing!) & looks out on to the paddock. Nice wood/timber interior & architecture. Bonfire at night, & local produce for breakfast ( sourdough bread from a bakery nearby). Very clean, warm & cozy. Thanks to our gracious hosts Kate & John.

Quiet and secluded, ideal to get away from it all, in a snug little guest house. Loved roasting marshmallows in the chiminea. Had forgotten just how dark the night sky can be and how bright the stars are away from the city.

This is a beautiful place and Kate is a great host who went above and beyond. She even set up a porta cot for us and loaned some books for our little one to read. A lovely scenic clean and tranquil place to stay!

We had a relaxing three night stay at the guesthouse with our 15 month old daughter. The beds were very comfortable and had a lovely view of the paddocks below. The bathroom was also very nice with its timber construction and warm heater. The kitchenette while small had everything we needed to prepare our meals. My daughter especially enjoyed the properties horses and the birds that visited each day.

I am an Auslan/English Interpreter & Translator. My husband John is an award winning builder with over 25 years experience creating extraordinary homes and spaces all over Melbourne and Victoria.
Despite being a city dweller (Melbourne, London) for most of my life, my move to Glenburn only a few years back was a wonderful life change. We lead hectic lives travelling back and forth from Melbourne for school (for our 3 children), work and Uni etc so to come home to 40 acres of beautiful lush bush land is an absolute joy. We are a well travelled family also with many stories from our trips abroad to share and just as many stories to share of our country life here in Glenburn. The gardens, infrastructure and some aspects of the building were destroyed in the Black Saturday fires so we spend as much time as we possibly can re-building what was lost and re-establishing the surrounding gardens (despite both of us lacking green thumbs).
The sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous as are the walks within the National Park. Our neighbours are the local wine maker Philip Lobley Wines and sourdough bread maker Wild Crust Bakery - what else could we possibly need.
It is my aim that each of our guests experience a quiet stay to breathe and recalibrate from their busy lives. We love it here and we hope you do too.
