A home away from home in South St. Louis County! A modern, but cozy, 562-sq.-ft. loft apartment with full kitchen, full bath, queen bed, custom-built twin Murphy Bed with floating desk, living room, walk-in closet, cable, DVD player and WiFi.
This place is built for relaxation and rejuvenation!
Note: We are next to a highway, so if you like to open your windows there will be some light highway noise. But with the windows closed, it's really quiet in there!
The apartment was built in 2013, then completely cleaned and repainted in 2016 and newly furnished. It can sleep two in a queen bed and one in a custom-built twin Murphy Bed.
The kitchen and bathroom cabinets, entertainment center, Murphy Bed with floating desk and queen headboard were handcrafted by me (Gill Wagner).
Decorating kudos and attention to amenity detail goes exclusively to Cindy, my lovely wife and co-host. This space is a labor of love designed for those who want to relax in a homey environment; we truly hope you're as comfortable here as you are at home.
Accès des voyageurs
You have free parking in our driveway, and independent, locked access to the apartment. There are stairs to climb, with no access for wheelchairs. You may use the shared patio, Weber grill or fire pit just up the yard at the back of the house. The way we see it, when you're here, you're family, and we hope you feel the same before you leave.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Cindy and I will give you our cells; you can call or text any time with any questions. Or feel free to use the Airbnb messaging interface instead. And if you want to sit on the patio and chat some time, just let us know. But if you're the type who would prefer privacy and solitude, this is an independent living space. You decide how much quiet time you'd like.
For business travelers, I'm a business professional too, so while you're in town, I'm happy to connect you to the business leaders I know, show you where the great business-networking events are (and attend with you if you like) or even set up a connection breakfast, lunch or dinner (with enough notice). We have two incredibly well-trained dogs, but they are in our house up the hill and are never allowed in the apartment. And while you're here, we'll keep them out of the back yard too if you prefer.
When the weather is nice, we often sit on the patio and socialize with neighbors or light the fire pit. We consider it common ground, so if you see us out, by all means join us and relax for a bit if you want!
While the space can accommodate family travelers, it's also got everything the traveling business professional or salesperson will need, including a desk with wipe board and WiFi. We're located near the intersection of two major interstates (I-270 and I-55 in South County), so both Clayton and Downtown St. Louis are just 15- to 20-minute drives away.
Resources abound nearby. Within 2 miles are Target, Costco, a major retail mall, FedEx Office, five large grocers and a 20-plex cinema. Extend that to 4 miles, and you could visit the beautiful Grant’s Farm, enjoy nature on an 8-mile paved biking and walking trail, or wander through a 50,000-square-foot antique mall. Within minutes, you could be dining at any one of hundreds of restaurants – from fast food to fine dining. Yet, your accommodations are tucked into a cozy neighborhood with rolling hills.
Our goal is to keep the apartment as allergy free as possible so that our guests are confident they'll be comfortable when here. That means absolutely no pets in the apartment ever (not even our dogs are allowed in there). And it means we strive to rent to non-smokers only, that way the particulates that cling to clothing can't be transferred to the couch, pillows, drapes, etc., and possibly affect future guests. (Thank you!)
We have two (incredibly well-trained and friendly) dogs that are sometimes in the backyard where the barn is located.
We want the place to be as allergy free as possible for all who may want to stay with us, so there is absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property and no pets are allowed. (We don't even let our own dogs in the apartment.) And the place is simply too small for parties.
Young children are an absolute no. The place just isn't child proof and we don't want to risk the safety of inquisitive kiddos. We set the age limit at 12 and older, but the real goal is old enough to understand respect and thoughtfulness.
Although the building is separate from the house, let's act as though we're living together while you're here and treat one another with that level of respect and thoughtfulness. The fridge and kitchen cabinets are supplied with the essentials for cooking. We've included amenities, like a hair dryer and toiletries. If you need something that we don't have in the barn just ask -- we may have it in the house. Plus, retail stores like Target and Costco are minutes away and we have four major grocery stores within 2 miles.
Our hope is that you'll feel like you are hanging out at a friend's house, and that we'll each have new friends for life after you leave.
