Beautifully positioned old farmhouse and private pool set in acres of fruit trees and flowers with views both of Ronda and the distant mountains. Set in a lush and verdant valley just 1km from the village of Arriate and only 7 km from historic Ronda.
A thick stone-walled farmhouse, formerly three adjoining houses, now converted into two interconnecting homes. Set in 5 acres of gardens, walnut and apple orchards, cut through by a small stream and encircled below by a river, it also has its own 11 metre salt water swimming pool.
There is an ancient stone cobbled terrace, a walled garden and lawns to sunbathe and play on. There are both covered and open dining areas outside and two distinct chill-out areas with large cushions shaded by vine covered pergolas.
Renovated with traditional natural materials and decorated with soft shades of time-darkened lime wash and stoney greys, the house is both cool in the summer and well insulated in the winter. There is no need for air conditioning ,although there are electric fans if needed, and open fires, stoves and central heating for the winter months. While being equipped for daily modern living, it is ideally suited to the appreciation of a slower pace of life.

I am a London-born figurative and landscape painter living in Ronda.Originally a Cambridge University History/Art History graduate I then took the less common path of training at Rambert Dance School to become a contemporary dancer and choreographer.Torn discs in my back ultimately brought this ten year era of my life to a close, so with a fervent desire to paint and my husband to write a book, we packed the car and drove to Spain for a six-month adventure, which has lasted a good few years longer.
After a year, we found an abandoned walnut and apple farm with two houses that was perfect for restoration.Twelve years and two children later I still live here, although one of the houses has become Casa Maia, a holiday home for other people seeking the warmth and beauty of Andalucia.
This amazing landscape has inspired me to paint, garden and even to run. Injury free, I can explore the countryside running through its valleys and hills. Its beauty and the quality of the light, the fresh food, the people and music of this region have helped to heal my back.
