Charming cabin-inspired efficiency apartment on a quiet side street in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. Just a stone's throw (literally) from Main St and a minute walk down the street to the ocean and Bar Harbor's famous Shore Path. High speed wifi, SmartTV with Netflix provided (HBO, Hulu, Amazon, etc. are available to use with your own account), communal washer/dryer just outside your door, large closet, hair dryer, assorted supplies, Bose bluetooth player, and snacks.
Snug, intimate space that's perfect for couples looking for something well-situated and well-appointed. Decorated with antique maps of Mount Desert Island, Maine, and many books about the history of this area. The pristine bathroom has luxurious towels, heated marble floor, and a spa-quality shower big enough for two. The communal yard has a fire pit and a lighted bocce court for you to enjoy. Just outside your door is a large deck with a gas bbq grill. There is no kitchen here, but you are provided with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave.
Albert Meadow is a quaint street with quiet neighbors. Grab breakfast only a few minutes away at my favorite joint, or make yourself some coffee and walk a minute down the street to catch the sunrise over Frenchman Bay.
  • Beautiful place, spotless and well appointed. Close to everything in Bar Harbor. Michael an excellent host, made everything easy.

  • Michael’s apartment is cozy, in the perfect location to walk to shops, theater, the pier, and a cool beach path walk. Huge bath towels, warmed bathroom floor, and nice side deck. We loved it.

  • Michaels place is right in the heart of downtown. Was able to walk to all restaurants and anything else we needed. Michael was an outstanding host, highly recommend.

  • This was a highlight to our weeks vacation! The attention to detail for what we would need and the craftsmanship were both excellent! The studio is in the heart of Bar Harbor, which allowed us the luxury of walking to all our shopping, food, music, water, etc., and even though you are so close to all the shops, tourist, etc the outside noise level was null when you were in the studio or on the side deck enjoying an evening beverage. The design of rustic and contemporary mixed gave this cottage five stars + in our books. Michael was a wonderful host, and we would highly recommend this location!

  • We were very fortunate for our first Airbnb experience to pick the perfect host and the ideal location. Communication with Michael was just right before our stay and we both enjoyed the several conversations we had with him at his stunning rental. The apartment is ideal for a couple and you could not be closer to downtown. Michaels’ renovation blew us away and he absolutely thought of every creature comfort you could possibly want. Thank you Michael and we will back again in 2018!

  • Really beautifully decorated studio nook right in Bar Harbour. Mike was really friendly and the whole town had a lovely vibe even though it was super quite because of the thanksgiving holiday.

  • FANTASTIC STAY. Great little place.

    Samuel2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mikes place was great! Amazing location, quiet, but just off Maine St. The space was warm and inviting- the pictures don't do it justice. Perfect space for a couples trip.

Come stay among moss covered spruce woods in our village of tiny homes and misfit animals, a short walk from the lakes and mountains of Acadia National Park. Bike less than three miles to see the sunset and picnic by the ocean. Ride the carriage trails to swim at Seal Cove and Long ponds and to hike up the western mountains. Take a short drive to the villages of Southwest and Bass Harbor for fresh seafood and nighttime entertainment. Even enjoy avant-garde theater in a rustic barn by the sea.
This home is built with bent maple poles in the style of an Iroquois Longhouse. There are large windows that let in the morning sun, space for storage, a wood stove and a cozy twin sized bed. Our property is located on a dead end road, please make sure to drive all the way to the end and park. We also have a very strict 10 mph speed limit on our road. It is important for our future that guests do not go over that limit. Thank you in advance.
Our tiny homes are sheltered in a quite mossy woodland. Just a mile walk from our land is a lake with wonderful swimming and fishing and the trailhead up the western mountains of Acadia. Take a two and a half mile bike ride in the opposite direction and you'll find yourself at a beautiful picnic spot by the ocean, the perfect place to enjoy a lobster bake as you watch the sun set.
  • This is a breath taking spot! The stove kept us incredibly warm. There was everything we needed and wanted. A warm unique place to lay our heads and enjoy the sounds of nature. It was pure bliss listening to the wildlife howling off in the distance and the trees creek. Do not miss out on the chance to visit and unplug unwind and enjoy.

  • Coyote’s Den is the perfect little place for an adventure. The stove keeps the place really nice and cozy and there’s plenty of blankets. Candace and Brendan are such great hosts and very helpful and offer wonderful hospitality. I enjoyed listening to the coyotes howl at night and hearing the birds chirping in the morning. I’m a Texas native so getting acclimated to the cold was quite an adventure, but the long house stayed warm through the night. Their group of misfit animals are such sweethearts too, loved spending time with them! The emus loved me and followed me around for attention! Henry the horse greeted me with sweet little nuzzles and a kiss on the cheek. Albert the alpaca was shy at first but warmed up quickly and let me pet him, he’s got the cutest little face! Can’t wait to visit again!

  • Hosts are super accommodating, my arrival turned out later than planned, but everything worked out perfect

    Victoria2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, loved the property! Cell reception for Sprint is poor on the island and dismal near the property, so be sure to communicate with the hosts ahead of arrival time if you also have Sprint!

    Miranda2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very cool spot in the woods. I loved how warm the wood stove made the cabin.

    Nick2018-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, tucked away site that gives you access to all the adventures of Acadia. Excellent attentive hosts and the mini-zoo was pretty cool too. Highly recommended!

Arjaluth's Garden is a small, efficiency apartment with sleeping loft, kitchenette, and private bath within walking distance of Acadia National Park and the village of Bar Harbor. There are hiking trails, restaurants, art galleries, shopping, and public transport close by. Set back from the street, the location is quiet, with a patio and gardens adjacent. A sweet spot for couples or solo adventurers. The sleeping loft is accessible via a Captain's ladder, so guests need to be reasonably agile.
Arjaluth's Garden is a sweet, cozy studio nestled off-street among ferns and flowers. It has a secluded feeling. A great place for a romantic getaway or a private retreat. You have your own kitchen with fridge, double hotplate, coffee & tea kettle, and a toaster oven. There is a spacious sleeping loft, however the center ridge line is only 5'6", so if you are quite tall you'll have to watch your head! It's best reserved for the activity of sleeping and napping. You are welcome to use the adjacent patio and grill, please be aware that sound travels and it is a closely built neighborhood. Your host lives on the premises and is available to help with recommendations for great places to eat, the best hiking trails, and popular locally supported businesses. There are two cats and a friendly dog at the host residence.
Bar Harbor is a unique village located on Mount Desert Island, Maine, and adjacent to the popular Acadia National Park. There is a small town, earthy vibe....You can easily walk into the village for eating and shopping and entertainment, or walk/drive/bike into Acadia National Park and pick up carriage roads, hiking paths, or the Park Loop Road.
  • Un endroit paisible, bien équipé et privé. Tout està proximité, parc, cinéma, resto, mer. Tout est accessibles à pied ou à vélo.

  • I was blown away by the beauty of Acadia National Park. To enhance the trip for my girlfriend and I Deborah was a great host and very willing and helpful when it came to where to go and what to see. Her insight and hospitality was very welcome. Also her 2 cats and dog made us feel at home. The studio was a little smaller than I initially perceived, however, it was no matter as it was still quite an adequate space for 2. I would absolutely recommend people to stay here in the future and would 100% stay here again if I were to return.

    Anthony2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is great place for one or two people. The location is wonderful for both being close to Downtown Bar Harbor and hiking in Acadia. Overall great stay.

    Sarah2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah was a wonderful host. She was very responsive and made great recommendations for local restaurants and music. The space was very cute and clean. The kitchenette was very convenient as well. Really nice place with very nice garden if you want to disconnect for a few days. The location was excellent with convenient parking.

    RENA2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah’s place was great. It was cozy and very conveniently located near Acadia and shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!

    Natasha2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Deborah's "tiny house." The gardens were as lovely as the pictures; the house was nicely decorated and supplied with all the utensils needed for our stay. The loft does have a low ceiling but was very manageable. We were a short walk to the sites and businesses of Bar Harbor. With the free shuttle bus to Acadia, we took only a few driving trips to more distant sites. Would definitely chose this place again if we return to the area.

    Craig Barb2017-07-28T00:00:00Z

15 min to Bar Harbor and 10 min to Acadia carriage roads. A 5 min walk to our pond to canoe or to fish! A cozy studio nestled in the woods, private, quiet, private parking. We're in a separate home on site so we can be available if you need anything!
Newly built, bamboo floors, wood and granite counters. It's wonderfully cozy in the winter and breezy in the Summer. Close to Carriage roads to CX-Ski or bike, lakes to swim or skate, and mountains to hike or snow shoe. Feel free to change the floor plan to suit your taste. Everything is easily moved around.
This is a very quiet residential neighborhood with a road association any many lovely families. There is a a small public pond just down the road for canoeing, fishing or ice skating in winter. A perfect local swim lake is just a few miles away.
  • Brianna’s place is comfortable and cute and a perfect base for exploring Acadia National Park and the rest of the island. We just wish we could have stayed longer!

    Terry2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend stay here! It is in a nice, quiet area and is a great getaway!

    Justin2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, our stay was nice! Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia while not being on the main drag. The space is one big room, so four people may be a bit cozy but doable. The kitchen was well equipped. The hot water doesn't last long, so quick shower needed! Overall a nice stay - some details / finishing touches that other similarly priced airbnbs we've stayed at weren't there, but we had a pleasant stay for our acadia trip!

    Kristen2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place off the beaten path and right outside Bar Harbor and Acadia. Served as a wonderful home base for a hiking weekend.

    Matthew2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Private. Clean. Comfortable. Highly recommend!!

    Kristin2018-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brianna’s location is wonderful. It’s a spacious studio space with a full kitchen. It is secluded within the woods and the nights are silent and peaceful. Bar Harbor takes only 15-20 minutes to drive to (during the off season in March when I went). The island is fairly small (but has an incredible amount to offer) so anywhere you want to get to is easily accessible (traffic permitting). I highly recommend Brianna’s location for anyone who wants to feel as though they have a small home in the woods (with all the comforts of home).

    Stephen2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • This studio space was perfect for us. It was very clean and comfortable and it was perfectly situated so close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It felt like we were high up in our own little tree house -surrounded by trees and the sounds of the birds. We would love to return-hopefully soon!

    Mike2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb experience and I'm never going back! Brianna is amazing, she was super helpful, kind and so thoughtful. The studio was a cozy peaceful getaway in the woods. It was fully stocked with everything we needed and was clean and adorable. We got there at night and walked into a well lit apartment with fresh flowers and an amazing scented candle lit. You can really tell Brianna takes her time making the place comfortable and adding all those finishing touches that really make the difference. Definitely recommend staying here!

The nature enthusiast will enjoy the comfort and central location of this cottage on Mt. Desert Island. Making touring in Acadia easy with trails, sites and Bar Harbor within easy access. Walk from cottage to carriage roads and Giant Slide Trail.
We are a centrally located cottage in the town of Mount Desert, which borders Acadia National Park. You may hike from the front door of the cottage to access the 45 miles of carriage roads which traverse the island. No automobile traffic is allowed on the carriage roads so they are perfect for biking and hiking. No pets allowed.
The Giant Slide Trail begins just out the front door and to your right. We are within one mile to the Japanese Azalea Gardens and the Thuya Gardens. The Marina in Northeast Harbor ,one mile away, offers ferry rides to the Cranberry Islands or Acadia Naturalist Tours up Somes Sound. There is a grocery store and restaurants in Northeast Harbor. In the winter one may cross country ski on the carriage roads.

  • The cabin is lovely and perfectly situated. The interior and kitchen appliances far surpassed my expectations. It felt like home.

  • The Sweet cottage was just that- so sweet! I have been wanting to go to a Maine for almost my entire life, Anns place was everything that I could have hoped for-for my First Maine trip! Everything was so clean and cozy. We loved being able to cozy up by the fire and enjoy hot coffee and do our devotionals early in the morning before we watched the sunrise over Cadillac mountain! Thank you so much for a wonderful few days!!

    Devon2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint, yet modern secluded cottage! Perfect for a getaway weekend for two.

    Lauren2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our get-away weekend at Sweet Cottage very much. It is a lovely cottage and is in the perfect location for exploring Acadia, surrounding villages, or for just relaxing in front of the fire. The kitchen is well-equipped for eating in and the en suite laundry/mudroom is wonderful. The hostess provides literature for walking or biking the carriage roads, birding, canoeing, snowshoeing, and exploring Acadia. We enjoyed opening all the windows and listening to the babbling brook while relaxing with a book from the cottage library. We can highly recommend Sweet Cottage for a weekend or a week-long stay!

  • Beautiful home with all the comforts of home .Extremely clean and comfortable. Both Ann and her husband were very helpful . This location worked out well for us centrally located for all are destinations. We loved this cottage and would come back again . We give this vacation cottage 5 stars

    Michael2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I visited this cottage over Easter weekend and it was great. The cottage is located next to a scenic brook and just down the road from Sargent Drive, a winding waterfront road with unobstructed views of Somes Sound - just a few minutes away. It's central location on MDI allowed great access to all parts of the park. We sought out other trails in the park due to weather (winter), but a nearby trailhead and carriage road access was tempting for a next visit. The space was cute, functional and very clean. Lots of mudroom and porch space for whatever gear you need to get out there. The little wood burning stove worked it's heart out for us as it dropped into the 20s, but we were never cold inside thanks to the wood pile kept inside. Ann left helpful instructions and had some great suggestions for what to do off season. We would definitely recommend this property and Ann was a gracious host.

Welcome. This is a cozy cabin-inspired apartment in the heart of Bar Harbor. Literally just a stone's throw from downtown, but on a quiet side street that goes to the water. You get a sunny (usually) porch that faces the street, a living room/kitchen (no cooktop or oven) with a sleeper sofa, and a master bedroom with a queen bed and a beautiful bathroom.
Access to your new home is through the front red door.
Albert Meadow is a quaint street with quiet neighbors. Grab breakfast only a few minutes away at my favorite joint, or make yourself some coffee and walk a minute down the street to catch the sunrise over Frenchman Bay.
  • Michael’s cottage was absolutely perfect for our one night stay, we wish we could have stayed longer! The space is even better then described and insanely clean - probably the cleanest AirBNB we have ever stayed in! The amenities were spot on, you can tell a lot of attention has been paid to small details such as local coffee, filtered water via the fridge, and the most amazingly huge and plush bath towels I have ever used. The location is fantastic, you can park your car in the handy spot out back and literally walk everywhere in Bar Harbor, very convenient! Definitely recommend Michael’s cottage to anyone coming to this area.

  • I would highly recommend staying at Michael’s place. We had a wonderful time.

    Jeremy2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very thoughtful and Michael had everything we needed there. Even though there's no kitchen, Michael provided us microwave and paper plates and cutlery to use.

    Chanont2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Mike’s place was a real treat! The place is beyond special. Mike has paid attention to every detail and created a fun and comfortable space. We loved sitting on the enclosed front porch in the mornings drinking our coffee and relaxing. Beyond that, the location puts all of Bar Harbor within a few minutes walk. The backyard, lighted, bocce court and fire pit were great fun! Mike was a friendly and attentive host! We could not have asked for a better place to stay for our Bar Harbor trip.

    Michelle2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Mike's place. It is the perfect spot to explore the bar harbor area from. The craftsmanship and thought Mike put into the layout and decor will make his place one of your best airbnb experiences ever, as it did ours. If your staying in Bar Harbor, you won't find a better place then this! Thanks again Mike!

  • This space is the definition of perfection in Bar Harbor. The location is in the heart of downtown. There is thought and attention to every component of the apartment. On top of this there is even a back yard with fire pit which was very much enjoyed. Proximity to Acadia National Park is a very quick drive. Can't say enough, Michael was awesome and had great recommendations for local spots, thanks so much :)!

    Nicholas2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage looks good online, and is even better in person. Really great space with cool design + furnishings. Michael is a friendly host, knowledgable about the area, and communicates well. The location could not be better for walking into downtown Bar Harbor or driving to Acadia. I would recommend this place + host any day of the week! Thanks, ZM.

Cozy cottage in an amazing location. Quick walk to the Shore Path, downtown Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park. Close to everything, but in a quiet leafy neighborhood off the beaten path. Nothing fancy, but clean and neat. This is my home, but I travel frequently, and I want to share it with you. A quality Bar Harbor experience at a reasonable price.
Cottage built in 1933. Antique charm with modern conveniences. Modern appliances--HE refrigerator, glass top range, HE washer. Bedroom one features a queen bed and a single bed--good for parents and a child. Bedroom two features a pillow top queen bed. Bedroom three features a bunk bed--perfect for kids 4-14. Kitchen has a new microwave, new glass top range, new service for eight, coffee grinder, waffle maker, knife block. It's a great place to whip up your own gourmet meals when not dining at Bar Harbor's great restaurants. Dining area table will expand to seat 6. High speed wireless internet. Roku stick with Netflix and Amazon Prime. DirecTV. Nice workspace in the sunroom. House is absolutely full of books, maps, and guides for a nice summer read or to lead you to your next hike, bike, or climb. Lots of games and puzzles for adults and kids. Beautiful soapstone wood stove for those chilly spring and autumn evenings. Pets are welcome. There is an eye hook attached to the front porch and a lead available for your dog. Please let me know if you are bringing a dog and I will have the lead ready. Please clean up after your pet. The cottage is named for a Professor Thayer who had a cottage near this location in the early 1900's (on a map in the house!). The idea is to relax, read, play, explore, and enjoy Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor just like the "rusticators" of old. Have fun! -Matt
Quiet neighborhood. Leafy and green. 100 feet from outstanding Havana Restaurant. Houses to the left and right are not occupied--so you have a lot of privacy. Want to take a stroll on the shore? You are a three minute walk to the famous Shore Path and Frenchman Bay. Five minute walk to the corner of Cottage and Main. You're in the heart of it all, yet quiet and secluded.

Ideal year-round location to access carriage roads and hiking trails from house! Best suited for hardcore hikers who appreciate quirky rustic Maine camp vibe. Park and hike Sargent, Parkman, Bald, Penobscot, &beyond! 15 min drive to Bar Harbor and Park Loop Road; 5 minute drive to NE Harbor. Bike to town on carriage roads! Unusual lay-out: bathroom & bedroom on 1st floor, kitchen on 2nd, 3rd with queen bed & deck! Lobster pot! MUST be able to climb stairs. On busy main road. No cleaning fee!
Welcome to a space that feels more like a rustic bohemian Maine camp and less like a pristine coastal cottage! Cozy and comfortable, with wireless Internet and cell phone reception but no television or dryer, this house is a place to tell stories and make memories. Coffee or tea on the deck overlooking Acadia National Park? Dance party while boiling lobster in the kitchen? Watching sunset over Somes Sound from the third floor princess bed? The first floor--composed of a bedroom, the bathroom, and a sitting room--retains turn-of-the-century charm of low ceilings, exposed beams, and tongue-and-groove walls. The first floor bedroom only has a double mattress (the third floor has a queen). The bathroom, tropically-themed, has been recently renovated, and you may enjoy a relaxing tub bath on a rainy day. Washer located in laundry room off bathroom, but no dryer (clothes line off deck). The kitchen and dining area and a second sitting room are located on the second floor of the house, a little unusual, but all visitors will enjoy relaxed dining next to the three oversized windows. The hostess-preferred hiking and carriage road maps of Acadia will be left on the table. Appliances include brand-new refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, blender, toaster, and coffee maker. Lobster pot provided! The entire third floor is the second bedroom, and this is the most magical part of the house. With knotty pine paneled walls and ceiling, this room is divided in two sections: a lofted princess bed with a queen-sized mattress featuring a birds' eye view of the sunset and a lower area conducive to both creative energy and blissful relaxation. A twin mattress is provided on the third floor so a fifth person can stay. Best of all, a deck off of the third floor allows you to sip coffee overlooking Acadia National Park.
Sargent. Parkman. Bald. Norumbega. The Around-the-Mountain Loop. Sargeant Drive. The Asticou Inn and Gardens. The Northeast Harbor Marina. These are a few of the destinations within a few miles of the property. It is located on the same side of the island as Sand Beach, Thunderhole, Cadillac, Bar Harbor, and other national park attractions.
  • 3 amis et moi avons passé une nuit dans la maison de Amy, nous avons apprécié notre cours séjour. La maison est grande et suffisamment équipée, elle est idéalement placée pour se rendre à l'Acadia National Park et Amy est une hôte très réactive.

  • Amy's place was wonderful, it offers a perfect location for hikers and people who are looking for a quiet get-a-way!

    Jeannie2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's home is exactly as she described - a hiker's paradise! The location gives you quick access to trail heads, and is close enough to Bar Harbor to get there in less than 15 minutes, but far enough away to feel like you're away from the hustle and bustle of the east side of the island. The views from her home are incredible, hanging out laundry to dry outside left us and our clothes smelling amazing, the blueberries and oatmeal and coffee provided for breakfast were perfect to get the day started without having to buy extra provisions, and the overall cozy factor of the home made it a wonderful place to rest our bodies after long hikes. Thank you, Amy, for making our stay on Mt. Desert so lovely!

  • Great location. Super close to great hikes and a short drive to bar Harbor

  • As this was our first Airbnb experience, my boyfriend and I were not sure what to expect but Amy went above and beyond to make this an incredible experience for us. Amy immediately made us feel welcome and at home while giving us a tour of her beautiful home. She couldn't have been more helpful! It was also our first time in the area and she patiently answered all of our questions and offered some tips on what to see and what to do! Amy even took the time to show us a trail just a few steps away from her front door! Overall, it was an absolutely incredible vacation made even more perfect by the comfort of Amy's home.

This cozy year round cottage is in town Bar Harbor with dramatic views of Frenchman Bay. Devon is walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and bars. Sleeps 4 and has a garage for car and bike storage. We offer long weekends off season and whole weeks from June to October.
We have for all guests the guide book that we publish called A Walk in the Park and an island map in house for them to use.
We live directly across the street from the elementary school which has a great field, playground, and a large mostly unused parking are to skate or ride bikes on.
  • Great spot, nice people

    Carey2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Devon Cottage earlier this month and it was perfect for me, my husband and our one year old to stay in. When we arrived, Nina greeted us and showed us around the house, she was very nice and helpful. She also found a spare baby gate for us to use while we were there which was appreciated. The house is right on the corner of the main area of Bar Harbor so we walked every time we went into town, very convenient. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything that we needed, we felt very at home there. We were able to park our car in the garage and keep our bikes there as well. I would definitely recommend this place and we'd love to stay here again next year!

    Megan2016-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • We felt welcomed by Nina, but she did not crowd us at all. She made us feel as though she trusted us and she was available if we had any questions. The house was as it is listed, but we didn't realize that the sleeping arrangements were not very private for two couples. The guest house was great and the location was even better, and the price was very reasonable. It would be perfect for a family of four! We loved visiting Bar Harbor, which is within walking distance of the house. We also loved visiting Acadia National Park, and it is also very close, about 5 minutes away. This is such a beautiful area and well worth the trip.

    Ria2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nina was very responsive in getting us easily settled in to the cottage. The cottage itself was the perfect size for a couple or a family of four with an open concept and airy feel. We loved having views of Frenchman Bay from the main living area and front porch. We also appreciated the location's easy access to downtown Bar Harbor, which is only a ten minute walk away.

    Jerry2016-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our week in Bar Harbor was wonderful. When we arrived after dark, Nina had the lights and heat on since it was a bit cold. The garage apartment is just as pictured, easy to find and close to downtown Bar Harbor. Just a 5 minute walk to Bar Harbor and a short drive to nearby Acadia National Park. Don't miss the beautiful walks and hikes in Acadia! The guidebook Nina's husband wrote describing the hikes is a big help! The cottage is clean, roomy and comfortable with a big kitchen easy to cook in and a large master bedroom with a comfy bed. When we had a problem with the washer, Nina responded and had it solved within minutes. Great place to stay in a beautiful part of Maine! We'd definitely stay there again.

    Suzanne2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house was even more beautiful in person and Nina was a lovely host! Super friendly and accessible. The king size bed was heaven-super comfortable and the kitchen was a really good space to cook in. Would definitely return!

    Lena2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home near acadia national park. Near supermarkets, restaurants and whatever else you'll need. I would stay here again.

  • This comfortable cabin was perfect for our Acadia adventure. Echo lake was beautiful and we really enjoyed using the canoe to get a closer look at the pair of resident loons. The location of the cabin is absolutely ideal for Acadia exploring. There are a few great hikes you can literally start from the front door of the cabin. Or you could easily enjoy a day at the cabin, as we did...canoeing around Echo lake, swimming, or lounging on the deck. Bill, the owner, was exceptionally responsive and accommodating. A great vacation.

    Amy2014-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • We came here for our honeymoon and it was the perfect respite from the city! The cabin was so cosy and peaceful. It was everything we wanted. There was plenty of beautiful hiking, canoeing, and all-around amazing scenery. Great places to get lobster nearby. We particularly liked it's location on the quieter, more local-feeling side of the island away from the tourist filled Bar-Harbor. Bill and company were great hosts, answered all of our questions, had lots of helpful recommendations, and we're extremely friendly and flexible. We wished we could have stayed longer and can't wait to come back!

    Christopher2013-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sexond time staying here. Amazing view. Outdoor shower is great. Swimming and canoeing on the lake in the morning is the best. Sad to leave.

    Andrew2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a great Lake house with a stellar view! My family with kids ages 9-14 loved it. It was like borrowing a friends house-everything was there except linens and food. The kayak and canoe were fun, along with fishing on the floating dock (and now I want an outdoor shower)! There is so much to check out on the island-Acadia or Bar Harbor and lots of other books..loved it!-Thanks, Bill!

  • Great cabin. We enjoyed kayaking on Echo Lake and going to various trails. This cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway.

    Ye2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with the Aikmans was great- they responded to emails immediately. The cabin is adorable and location very central to many hikes and attractions on MDI. It is on a busy road, but once you are down the steps to the cabin you feel like you are in your own private world. We've been to Bar Harbor many times and this was our favorite place we've stayed. Being able to jump in the lake any time of day was fantastic. Wifi service was shaky, but we didn't really mind- the whole point was to take in nature and make a break from day to day life at home.

    Nicki2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a positively adorable cabin. We found it to be exactly as described. Bill was right on top of responding to our questions! We would gladly return and would not hesitate to recommend this listing to those considering a visit to the Acadia region.

  • Carol and Jim have a wonderful suite in Bar Habor. The suite itself is large and very clean. The location offers easy parking and <5 minute walk to grocery store & downtown bar harbor. Carol was also readily available to message. We hope to stay again!

  • Carol and Jim's place was perfect. The location was ideal offering a very short walk to the shops, restaurants, and coast in Bar Harbor. Very easy drive to all that Acadia offers and to Thurston's Lobster Pound in Bernard. The unit itself was extremely clean and had everything you could possibly need. Really one of the best Airbnb's I've stayed in. Well done Carol and Jim, and thank you again!

    Dan2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect location! Close to restaurants and shops but on a quiet neighborhood street. Everything was very clean and new. The bed was extremely comfortable and my daughters said the futon bed was comfortable as well. The decor was stylish and fitting to the location (a priority for me). I will definitely book this place again next time visiting Bar Harbor.

  • My husband and I totally enjoyed our stay at Carol and Jim's AirB&B suite. It is centrally located in Bar Harbor, close to restaurants and a large chain grocery store (Hannaford). It is also only minutes from Acadia National Park, which was the destination of our trip this time. The suite is spacious, consisted of a full kitchen, a small bedroom, a full bathroom, a living room with dining area, and a balcony. The place was very clean, and was well equipped with cooking and dining necessities, towels, two TVs, a washer and a dryer. It was quiet and very comfortable. Carol and Jim had been in good communication with us via email prior to our trip and provided clear instruction on how to find their place. They left the porch light on to help us find the place. These made our arrival (after dark) very easy. When we asked about the local resources (restaurants etc.), they provided detailed information and suggestions. We met Carol as we were checking out. She was a very personable lady, and asked about our stay and what she could to do to make the experience even better. This was actually our first time using AirB&B. We appreciate that Carol and Jim made it such a great experience, and we look forward to staying at this place again the next time we visit the area.

    Yong2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Huckleberry Suite was the absolute perfect place for our little family to stay during our trip to Bar Harbor! Carol and Jim have thought of everything to include in the rental (high chair, pack and play, fully equipped kitchen, list of restaurant recommendations, etc.). The location is perfect for exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. I couldn't ask for a better place to stay on our trip. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We will definitely be back!

    Christina2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Carol's place is perfect for those visiting Bar Harbor. The location is ideal - close to downtown, walking distance to the grocery store, and not too far from popular Acadia trails. Everything we could possibly need from a place to stay was provided. We had a great time staying in Bar harbor and I think part of it was because of how perfect the Huckleberry was for our needs.

  • We ADORED the cottage on School Street. Prime location only a couple of blocks away from Main Street, and many Acadia trails were walking distance (the park visitor center was a short drive away). The rooms were comfortable and beautifully clean, the kitchen comfortable and the living room great to watch a movie at night. Helen was very responsive and super sweet, and the cleaner left us a very nice thank you note before our arrival! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Ines2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Helen's cottage was wonderful - perfect location just a few blocks from the shops & restaurants but on a very quiet residential street. We loved our visit!

    Sue2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Helen's place could not be in a better location! It was in walking distance to everything, we even walked to the grocery store. I think the only time we used our car was going to Acadia & that was only 2 miles away. Great location! The house is roomy, clean & had all the necessities. We did almost all of Helen's suggestions & Cafe This Way was one block away. We went there 3 times as it was our favorite place to eat. Highly recommend Helen's place if you are visiting beautiful Bar Harbor & Acadia!

    Lori2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • 5 adults, 2 dogs. Great location, excellent owner communication, clean, large kitchen with new appliances. The living room does not seat 5 adults comfortably. The back gate was off and broken. One reason we choose this house at a higher price was a secured area for the dogs. Two doors were barely operable without yanking up or down. The shower has a water saver head and for women with a large head of hair you could not rinse shampoo. You cannot run any water in the house while showering. The women had to rinse under the faucet in the tub. Some windows were not or barely operable. The front screen door's screen is on the bottom. If you have a dog you have to close the glass so dogs will not damage the screen which left for less air flow. The afternoon sun bakes the house. Even with A/C in extreme heat the house doesn't cool until the sun sets. Beware of the next door neighbor who does not want you to even step a toe in their yard. We had a great vacation and the minor things above seem negative. I just wanted to point out items that would have made our living conditions better. I am still awarding 5 stars.

    MATTHEW2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! Loved Acadia and Bar Harbor! We have lived in old homes and enjoyed it's character. If we were were to stay again, it would be nice to have a key to the tv stand to keep our toddler out of it.

    Amy2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great visit. You could not ask for a better location; we were traveling with family including our 7 month old daughter and this made it so easy to quickly go out and go for a walk in town or to a restaurant while the baby was in a good mood.

    Stephen2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This house, situated on a nice, quiet street within a short walk of downtown Bar Harbor, was exactly as described. It had all the amenities that we needed! The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and we had a very enjoyable stay there. Helen was quick responding to any questions we had prior to our arrival and made us feel very welcome with all the information she left for us in the house. Would highly recommend this home!

    Jean2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Helen provided clear and helpful information about the house before we even arrived. The house is in a pleasant neighborhood and only a short walk to the town. It has a porch, chairs and picnic table for outside relaxation, and inside there is a comfortable kitchen and living room. The bedrooms were very clean and super comfortable. Our stay was great and we hope to head back there sometime.

  • Thank you Terri and Steve. We are very happy when we were there, every thing is a brand new, clean, comfortable and private. It’s very awesome and close to the nature. When we woke up we saw a many tree and the mountain and before we slept,we saw the bright stars in the dark sky. We tried to find a romantic restaurant around here for celebrate my birthday but almost not open yet during not the season. On last day I just found that I brought a takeaway food and ate at the living room. There have a cute dining table close to the window and can see the view of the mountain. It’s very romantic. My husband loves this place and he said this is his dreams house.

  • Terri and Steve were very accommodating, helping to answer all of our questions about Bar Harbor and Acadia. The room felt brand new and was very clean and nice. The location, which seemed a little remote at first, turned out to be an excellent halfway point between the town of Bar Harbor and the different parts of Acadia. Check in/out was very easy and simple, we could not have asked for a better place to spend our few days in Acadia.

  • Terri Airbnb review: Terri and Steve’s custom built “nest” apartment is brand new, clean, tidy, and beautifully built. The apartment itself is in the basement/ground level apartment of an amazing house nearby Otter Cliffs and about a 12 minute drive from town. Terri and Steve made sure to welcome us upon arrival, but gave us privacy to come and go as we pleased. Terri and Steve’s attention to detail to ensure guests are comfortable is evident in every aspect of the experience. We relied on their comprehensive and informative guide for everything—from hiking trails to restaurants. It was the perfect spot for a long weekend in Bar Harbor and we would love to stay here again when we’re in the area!

Sunny, spacious bedroom in rambling old house. This is a shared apartment. Central location, comfortable beds, good wi-fi, very clean. Quiet residential neighborhood only a 5-minute walk from Main Street shops and restaurants, and a 5-minute bike ride to Acadia National Park. We are still renovating - see the description for more info.
We bought this building about 2 years ago, and have had a blast renovating it. We've updated the bedrooms and living/dining room, which are bright, airy, and very comfortable, but we are still working on the other rooms and on landscaping. You can follow the renovation progress on Instagram at JennSBooher. Your bedroom is on the second floor, freshly painted and comfortably furnished with a king bed, memory foam mattress, and cozy goosedown comforter. There is a deadbolt on the bedroom door for your privacy and security. The shared bathroom is on the same floor. The apartment has a full kitchen. It has not been renovated, so the appliances and cabinetry are old, but the space is well-equipped: it includes a dishwasher, coffee-maker, microwave, Kitchenaid mixer, toaster oven, pots, pans, and baking sheets. There are board games, puzzles, playing cards, and books, as well as an excellent wi-fi connection [50Mbps down and 5Mbps up]. The bathroom has not been renovated either, but has a tub and shower. There are a washer and dryer in the hall. We are currently painting the hallway in the apartment and may be doing other small projects during your stay. Please check with me before booking if you have concerns about construction during your stay.
If you head right on Ledgelawn when you leave the house, it's a 10 minute walk to the Park Loop Road (the main road in Acadia National Park). Head left and it's an even shorter walk to restaurants, stores, and bike rentals. Main Street is about 4 minutes away.
  • Love that it's very close to town and Acadia's main attractions. We even managed to go up Cadillac Mt in the afternoon (15 mins drive), went back to Jen's place for a nap, and went back up again to watch the sun set! Communication with Jen was great!

    Lutfi2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We can definitely recommend staying with Jenn. She helped us whenever we needed help, the house was clean and comfortable. We walked from the house to Mount Cadillac and back, so the house is definitely in range of the main Acadia attractions. We can also recommend Bar Harbor itself. A lot of touristy stuff but many other interesting local things going on as well. As Yoda would say: "Follow-up on Jenn's tips, you must!"

    Erwin2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was very accommodating. The place had everything we could possibly need. Perfect place to staying you're just staying in Bar Harbor or looking for a place right outside of Acadia. I would stay here again.

    Kristina2017-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is simply perfect for whoever wants to explore Acadia. Centrally located in Bar Harbor, it is step away from shops and restaurants. It was the ideal spot for us! And Jennifer has been tremendously helpful with many tips about the surroundings! Perfect!

  • We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at Jennifer's place in Bar Habor. Excellent residential location. It's really convenient to restaurants, shops, and Abbe Museum. Very clean. Kitchen is well stocked with cooking/eating kitchen wares. Laundry setup was great. Jenn provided numerous good tips on things to do around the Park, Bar Harbor, and a ways north and south of there.

  • I will strongly recommend this place to visitors to Bar Harbour/Acadia National Park. The place is exactly as described: the apartment is clean and tidy, and the location is super convenient for bus stops, restaurants, supermarket, the national park, and the price is very reasonable. Our host Jennifer is super kind and generous: She gave us a lot of useful tips for our trip to Acadia National Park, and helps us a lot when the battery of our car died.

    Xiaolan2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing location to shops and Main Street. Will definitely visit again!

The Cottage Room has a King Bed and Jacuzzi tub. The Canterbury Cottage is located in the middle of Downtown Bar Harbor. Acadia National Park is two minutes away. All rooms are located on the second floor. The 1st floor offers a dining room and a living room with TV and a fireplace. Guests are restricted from using the kitchen. Wi-fi is available. Sorry, no pets! Sorry, no breakfast! On site parking is available (1 car per room).
  • Our Cottage Room stay was a great find. Big comfy King size bed, less than a half mile to all of the restaurants and bars, and Tim was gracious with his suggestions and tips. Our stay cannot go without a mention of the adorable and perfectly mannered House Mascot, Echo. For a stay that focused on exploring Acadia, the house suited all our needs!

    Matthew2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely lovely room with its own bathroom and tub. It was the perfect, private room for my solo trip to Acadia during the off season. It’s easy to find and incredibly close to everything in and out of Bar Harbor (though the island is very small comparative to Montana. Everything is close to everything) Tim was even kind enough to offer me his snowshoes when I mentioned tying trash ones together with dental floss.

    Rachel2018-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very clean and comfortable! The Jacuzzi tub was an extra plus. Its located right by everything, able to walk anywhere in town. Would reccomend staying here while in bar harbor!

    Heidi2018-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. The best part of this place is the location. We walked down a few blocks for dinner at the Finback Alehouse, super good food! Plus no need for an Uber or to drive ourselves. Communication with Tim was so easy. He gave us a great recommendation to go see the viewpoint from Mt. Battie in Camden on our way. It was breathtaking. Another suggestion for visitors, rent a canoe at Acadia NP and row around long pond. We had the whole pond to ourselves and took in the fall colors. This was a memorable trip for sure.

    Cailin2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tim’s place is in a great location in central Bar Harbor with easy parking and a wonderful host. Tim is great with communication and helped us every step of the way with our first trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor, giving thorough and fantastic recommendations for what to see and how to best navigate the park. The room we stayed in was comfortable, clean, and a perfect place to relax. We can only say that our stay was too short and we wish it had been longer! Thank you, Tim!

    Kellan2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was warm, comfortable and conveniently located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Tim, Martha and Echo were wonderful hosts with great tips on where to go and what to do. We'd recommend this place you anyone traveling in the area and would stay again in the future.

    Jennifer2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality and a fantastic location. Hosts are very knowledgeable about the local area. They also went the extra mile the morning of check out and helped us dig our car out of the snow! Highly recommend!

  • The cabin ('house' would be a more appropriate name, as the property was very comfortable and well-renovated) is very quiet and conveniently located. The interior was very comfortable and had everything we needed, and the cabin was surrounded by trees so every morning we were greeted by the sounds of nature and fresh air. Bethany was extremely nice and helpful, she even left us a dozen eggs produced by the hens she kept. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who's visiting Acadia/Bar Harbor.

    Jim2015-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Bethany was a tremendous host. The cordovan cabin was a peaceful retreat near bar harbor and beautiful acadia national park. My family of five loved her many chickens and two pigs. I would stay here again.

  • This is the perfect cabin to experience Bar Harbor. The cabin was great with everything one would need. Bethany was a great host. You can really tell she wants guest to have a great time based on the details she adds to the cabin (maps, notes, instructions, and suggestions). This is a wonderful place to stay.

    Hadden2017-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at The Cordovan Cabin for two nights and we absolutely loved it! The cabin is more spacious than it seems from the pictures. Bethany keeps it very clean and well equipped with all your needs! Bethany is also really fun to talk to and we loved her animals - the pigs and the chickens are adorable! We enjoyed our stay very much and we certainly will be back next time we visit Mount Desert Island!

    Sandra2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Bethany's place is comfortable for 4 adults. Also quiet at night for sleeping and the chickens are fun!

    Ferrelyn2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely setting, easy to find, great location... Cabin was very clean and had all home comforts which made settling in very quick and easy... Cabin is private at the back of the property but also was nice to walk around and Bethany was very friendly... Loved the chickens and pigs, as did our dogs which were very much welcomed... Would defl reccomend...

    Andrew2015-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is great! Very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia, and very comfortable. Also very nice to meet the animals!

    Jeremy2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Bethany is a very accommodating host. She is very friendly, reliable, and available. Beth stays in a separate house that is a ways down the driveway. She is there to help you with anything at the drop of a hat, but at the same time, she respects your privacy so well you will forget that she exists! The location is at the head of the island, the cabin is in the back, secluded from the main road. The cabin is clean, well furnished, and comfortable. The full kitchen is stocked, and you have a washer and dryer to use! You are about 15 minutes (quick drive) from Bar Harbor.

The Bird's Nest is an elevated efficiency apartment with views of Somes Sound, Southwest Harbor, and the mountains of Acadia. There is a small efficiency kitchen and a sunny second floor deck to enjoy the view while having a peaceful breakfast or evening meal. While the property is secluded and private, we do have our own private wooded trail that drops right into town, where you can enjoy Southwest Harbor's restaurants and shops, or catch the free Island Explorer bus.
Intimate sunny apartment with an ocean view.
The Bird's Nest sits on a Ridge overlooking the village of Southwest Harbor and has a vista that is as unique as any on the Maine coast yet is removed from the busier, in-town atmosphere. We are a bit more secluded, but we do have our own private path that will take you into the center of Southwest Harbor. From your deck, look north to the fjord of Somes Sound and looking east and south are Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, a more intimate view of Southwest Harbor, and several of the offshore islands.
  • Great view! Good location. Small but cozy.

    Maria2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great location for an Acadia Park visit! Easy to access, but quiet and away from the crowds. It was nice and clean, with a great view of the harbor. As a hiker, I liked the easy walk through the woods into town. In town, you can find a restaurant or store for supplies. It was my first visit to Acadia, and I only stayed 4 nights, so I never even got to the western side for hikes. Definitely would return here!

    B2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Bird's Nest was such a pleasure - comfortable, quiet, and private. Southwest Harbor was a relaxing setting, and driving into Acadia NP and Bar Harbor was easily accomplished. We ate quite a bit of lobster while in Maine, and highly recommend Thurston's Lobster Pound

    Luann2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Margery is a very pleasant and helpful host. She made sure we had everything we needed and then some. I would not hesitate to stay in one of her properties again.

    Allison2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Margery's place is great! It's minutes from Southwest Harbor — which has a few nice bakeries and restaurants — and about 20 minutes from the main attractions of Acadia National Park. The deck has a fantastic view. The neighborhood is very quiet. The slanted ceilings can be tricky if you're tall, but I'm 6"2 and managed fine. Would definitely recommend!

    Eric2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Whatever expectations we had of the Bird’s Nest were exceeded! The place was perfect for just the two of us on a trip to spend our time in Acadia National Park. It was secluded, quiet, full of nature, had a beautiful view, and yet a short drive to the park and other harbor towns for activities. We were blown away by the place itself, and enjoyed coming home to our little place every evening. We had no trouble getting in contact with Susan, and she left us instructions of anything we needed! I would highly recommend this place, as I know we will be back ourselves!

    Mollie2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is ADORABLE. It's small and cozy like it says in the description, but it was plenty for me and my boyfriend for a four night stay. Sitting out on that deck watching the sun rising over the mountains made our whole trip! And the little nature trail leading to town was a perfect way for us to stretch our legs and get some essentials after the long drive. Would highly recommend booking here!

    Samantha2018-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in this small but cozy, clean space in a beautiful peaceful location on the southwest side of the island. Views from the top deck are to the East are simply beautiful as the morning sun comes up. We were in town for an art market and wanted to be in a more quiet location away from the busier Bar Harbor scene. It was only 20 mins away and we enjoyed the landscape of mountains and ocean views every day as we drove back and forth. Susan was super nice and a great host. She answered my calls and questions immediately. Hope to come back and stay again!

  • Vacasa Maine was exactly as advertised. That's all I ask from AirBnB places.

  • My husband and I booked the Sea Glass Cottage for our wedding anniversary- in hopes to catch Acadia at peak leaf season. Acadia was beautiful this time of year. However, we were disappointed with the Sea Glass Cottage. We did not receive any check in instructions prior to arrival, just an email from "Michael", the local Vacasa property manager, welcoming us and asking us to call him personally with any questions/concerns. We called the main Vacasa number when we arrived, as it was dark and we did not have the code to get in the home. The man we spoke to told us that sometimes there is a glitch in the Airbnb system with check in instructions, but he was able to give us the code to get in. When we entered, we thought it was very cute and looked clean. But, there was a smell of rotten bananas and when we opened the trash, we saw that the trash from the previous guests had not been taken out- there were rotten bananas in the trash along with a bunch of other garbage. We called Michael and left a message since he didn't answer. He never called us back throughout the entire weekend, but did have a woman call us to let us know that there was a new cleaning lady at Sea Glass that day and she must have forgotten to take out the trash- she informed us that there was a dumpster right across the way (which we did not see because we arrived when it was already dark out). She also verified that there is an issue with guests who book on airbnb receiving check in instructions, but that she would look into it to fix it (but the man we spoke to earlier also confirmed that Vacasa knew about this glitch). Due to the trash, there were fruit flies during the three days/nights that we stayed. The actual home was great- close by the other homes on the street, but felt secluded from the Bar Harbor traffic/crowds. Since we didn't get the typical check in instructions before we got there, we did not know that they do not provide coffee, so we had to run back out to the local gas station to pick up coffee the night we arrived. This was the first airbnb we have ever stayed in that had a coffee machine, but did not provide coffee. They also placed shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc in a bag on the kitchen table instead of placing it out in the bathroom- for the amount of money we were paying, it just seemed like there was not a lot of effort placed in getting the home ready for guests. Again, we felt the actual home was cozy and comfortable, but the lack of minor details left something to be desired. We did not feel that it was worth the $300/night that we spent. We hope that in the future Kim decides to hire a different management...

  • Our stay was perfect for a two-day trip to Acadia. It was super clean, cozy, easy to find and check-in, and had some nice touches like a well stocked kitchen and some puzzles and books. Thanks for having us!

  • Sea Glass Cottage is a quiet oasis away from the crowds and busyness often found on other parts of the island. With its location it was convenient to visit Southwest Harbor and the back side of the island in addition to the more popular areas. The cottage itself is very clean, the decor attractive. We enjoyed the great supply of board games after a day on the trails or kayaking. We'd definitely choose Sea Glass Cottage again!

My place is close to The Seal Harbor beach, stanley brook entrance to Acadia National Park, miles of carriage paths for hiking & biking. Best directions here are stay on route 3 east stright ahead from info center, follow all lighthouse restaurant signs. We are behind the lightouse restaurant.
The efficencies are small, private bed room and bath. combined small living room and full kitchen.
I live in the most beautiful place anyone could live and that is year round. There is so much offered here.
  • Petit appartement très bien situé et charmant . Le ménage était fait tous les jours et les serviettes de bain changées quotidiennement comme dans un hôtel .Le lit était bruyant , il mériterait d'être changé .

  • Judiths place was a great secluded location close to Jordan pond! It was nice to have a bed and a pull out sofa, and also a kitchen area and bathroom. Most peoples reviews were accurate and helpful. We only stayed one night, drove up to Cadillac mountain for sunrise, and grabbed some coffee and little premade breakfast burritos from the coffee shop right by the amenities, it was very convient!

  • Very close to Acadia NP and within easy walking distance to the beach and main area of Seal Harbor. The efficiencies are just off the main road and are surrounded by a small group of trees that attract some local bird life (we enjoyed the songs of juncos, sparrows, chickadees, bluejays, finches, woodpeckers, and nuthatches during our stay). Easy check-in and out with all the conveniences of home. Would recommend!

  • Judith's place was in a great location, right by the water! Close to so many trails but not to far from Bar Harbor to get a bite to eat (definitely recommend Side Street Cafe! open year around). Clean & cozy for the two of us and our two dogs. Bed was comfortable, quiet street. There was quite a draft coming in under the door, we blocked it with a towel. Would stay again.

    Bailey2018-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Though this apartment had some nice points including picturesque quiet location and nice kitchen appliances, we had some trouble here: WIFI password was not provided on any information inside the apartment and our efforts to telephone the host were futile due to no cellular access on our phones. The apartment walls are painted particle board and TV and conversation sounds from adjacent units were very audible. Luckily they didn't run too late at night. There were VERY basic cooking and eating utensils. Though there were pots and pans, there were no microwave cooking containers (or serving bowls of any type), so we couldn't use the microwave to heat anything containing liquid or to steam vegetables. The cooking knives were old, cheap, and extremely dull. There were a total of two plastic cold cereal bowls, and only two drinking glasses (plus, amazingly, two wine glasses).

This recently renovated space on the third floor of our classic 1910 Maine home is furnished with a comfortable queen bed with organic linens, an equipped kitchen with stone countertops, a living area with table/chairs and small couch. Walk to ocean, shops, and restaurants in minutes!
It is our hope that "Newton Nest" will be a welcoming, cozy, and clean apartment for folks needing a home-base for Acadia adventures. Stone countertops, cabinets, appliances, and flooring are some of new additions, while some of the charms of an older home remain such as the original bathroom sink. Organic linens, local art (including my own Acadia Wave Photography), high quality kitchen furnishings, simple functional decor, and a Acadia/local area resource library (including tips on our favorite hikes, swims, places to eat, etc!) are some of touches we provide which we hope will enhance your visit.
Convenient to everything, yet just enough on the fringe of town to feel away from the hustle and bustle. Walk to everything in town within minutes, including the ocean. Or from late June to mid-October you can catch a free Island Explorer bus to venture beyond town into Acadia National Park!
  • Great communication, detailed directions and local recommendations, great location walking distance from restaurants, ocean, etc.

  • The "Newton Nest" does not disappoint. Clean, private, right in town and fantastic hosts! Sarah and Shawn provide an awesome binder with great tips (trust the binder guys, it will not disappoint). They made the check in/out process super easy and are great communicators. If we had any questions they quickly responded. "The Nest" is within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor and 5 minutes from multiple entrances to Acadia National Park. Thanks so much Sarah and Shawn!!

  • We had the pleasure of coming across "Newton Nest". Definitely feel so lucky to have found them because we had he MOST terrific time in Acadia. From the first e-mail until we actually got back home Sarah has been nothing short of amazing; always very responsive and so attentive to details. EVERYTHING we asked for was no trouble and made available to us in a timely matter from suggestions of what to do to a literally immaculate apartment. The location could not possible be better as we could walk everywhere, this place is in the heart of town. I would not only recommend "Newton Nest" to everyone visiting Bar Harbor but hope to be back soon and stay with them again. Also, take all of their advices and suggestions because they know better (we did and were not disappointed)... Very nice family and we even got the chance to meet their puppy; so cute. Thank you so much for everything, we will always remember our trip and how much you played a part in it.

  • This spot is walking distance to everything in town and perfect for a couple. Sarah was super communicative and friendly. We loved our stay--absolutely recommend.

    Katherine2016-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's and Shawn's apartment is great! It is clean and cozy; the perfect place to come back to after a long day in Acadia. Sarah was a great host as well and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. I hope I can come back to this amazing place in the future!

    Julia2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Newton Nest was cute, clean, and just perfect for 2 people. Everything was laid out nicely and we enjoyed staying there. Amenities (shampoo/conditioner, body wash) were great (full bottle size which helped because we stayed 5 days and were hiking each day); kitchen utensils, pans, washing rack, cups, plates, etc. was exactly what we needed (we even had enough to give a go at cooking lobster there one night); and street parking was of no issue at all. Sarah was prompt in responding, fulfilling our requests, and we had no problem with anything in the room. Also, the faux fireplace was such a nice little touch! The "nest" felt secluded and secure. Was close to everything in Bar Harbour. Couldn't have had a better stay, and when we inevitably come back to hike more of Acadia, we will definitely try to stay at Newton Nest! Thanks Sarah!

    Danelle2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very Serene and Cozy place with lots and lots of light. Enjoyed my stay here and Sarah was a great host. From the booking confirmation to the fine details set in the room, they were very communicative and very welcoming. The room is more than what has been described in the listing. I would highly recommend the place for folks who wants to enjoy Acadia in pure Zen :)

    Arun2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really liked Sarah and Shawn. They are easy going and friendly. She showed us some great spots to visit on the island. And he strums a mean guitar.

The Captain David House is a beautifull air conditioned, 3 bedroom, 2 bath house located on a highly desirable, quiet side street just a short walk to everything in Bar Harbor. Located one block from main street and the Village Green, you can leave your car in the driveway and explore on foot.
We are located on a beautiful, quiet side street, just a short walk to the Bar Harbor town green, Main Street  with all its' shops and restaurants, the harbor itself, the YMCA, library, both movie theaters and more. Park your car and walk to everything, including the Island Explorer bus stop which will take you everywhere you want to go, free of charge. Our house was completely renovated in 2016 with both your comfort and safety in mind. Located in the heart of Bar Harbor, it is the perfect place from which to explore all of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. Comfort: One important element to an enjoyable vacation, is a good night’s sleep. We provide comfortable mattresses and luxurious sheets. Two of our bedrooms have queen sized beds and our children’s bedroom sleeps two in a bunk bed.  There is a sleep sofa in the livingroom for added sleeping space. The house is airconditioned to provide comfort on those rare hot summer days when the ocean breeze is just not enough.  Our brand new kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals at home, re-heat leftovers from your night out or even host a lobster bake. We have tried to think of everything you will need and even provide, sugar, flour, salt, pepper and olive oil.   We provide all linens, towels, beach towels, paper products, trash bags, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, cleaning supplies and blowdryers. My favorite part of the house is the front porch. From here you can, sit back, put your feet up, enjoy a cool drink and inhall the fresh ocean air that blows thru town. Safety: We have installed hard wired smoke and CO2 detectors in each bedroom and throughout the house. We also provide a fire extinguisher on each floor. The Capt. David House is located within half a mile of the Fire and Police Stations and less than a mile from the Mount Desert Island Hospital. We also do our best to ensure the safety of small children by keeping our cleaning products out of reach and providing a baby gate.
Our house is located in the heart of Bar Harbor. We are a three minute walk to the Village Green, where you can enjoy Bandstand music on a warm summer night, ice cream from Mount Desert Ice Cream, or just sit in the sun and people watch. From there you can stroll to the many downtown shops and the beautiful harbor to view the many fishing boats and cruise ships. Acadia is the oldest American National Park east of the Mississippi River.  The Park covers nearly 47,000 acres on the Atlantic Coast of Maine. The greater part of the park is located on Mount Desert Island, but it also encompasses smaller islands like Baker Island, Sheep Porcupine and Little Moore. The town of Bar Harbor is the center for most activities.   Hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating, whale watching, shopping, biking, exploring, beach combing, eating, dancing and more.  You will never run out of things to do on beautiful Mount Desert Island.
  • Nancy thought of every little detail in the house to make for a perfect getaway! The house is so close to town, we were able to walk to dinner and shops each night! The first night we cooked in, and with the fully stocked kitchen, it was easy to enjoy family style!

    Nicole2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's place is an ideal option when looking for a place close to town with all the amenities you'd need while vacationing. It seems she's thought of nearly everything and in fact it was the charming little details that sets this aside from any other rental I've been at. Everyone in our group was comfortable at the Captain David House, we all wanted to move right in! We were all adults but I can imagine families would be very comfortable here as well. Overall a great rental, five out of five!

    Gabrielle2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house was renovated and most everything is new and kept very clean. The location is very convenient to downtown....very close walk. We had 4 people and had plenty of room. Nice amenities such as outside sofa/chairs. Even the ride to Cadillac Mt is short. Only areas to watch for are road construction with main roadway only 1 way. For us in June it was not a real problem. If you have large SUV, driveway is narrow but you can still navigate. Overall, a very good experience!

    Russ2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil spot only a stroll away from downtown Bar Harbor. We were there just before the start of the season (end of April) and Bar Harbor, being a slightly bigger town, was already open for business where some other locations on Mount Desert Island were not so much. The house is nicely furnished, clean and well equipped. The terrace was the cherry on the cake. Highly recommended.

    Richard2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nancys place was very well appointed and nicely decorated. Everything was just like the photos and descriptions and we enjoyed the stay very much. The driveway is tiny but large enough for my fairly large SUV. The kitchen had all we needed and everything was fairly new and in great condition. Location is in a residential neighborhood that was uneasy walking distance to some of the better restaurants - eat at Havana!! Fantastic!! A little longer walk or short bike ride to the true downtown but those restaurants were generally overrated.

    Ed2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location. Everything in Bar Harbor is walkable. Nancy was extremely quick to respond to any inquiry (seemed like always within 15 minutes). The house itself is awesome too. What a great experience.

    Julian2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Captain David House is as advertised. Nancy has forgotten nothing, the location is ideal and close to everything including Acadia which we love. We loved it so much we are already booked for next summer.

    William2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect for anyone wanting to spend time in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The house is beautifully decorated, well appointed, sparkling clean, and comfortable. Ample towels and blankets. Keyless entry. Parking for two cars. Smart tv to dial in Netflix etc. Two outdoor seating locations. Two full bathrooms. Washer and dryer. Stocked kitchen. One note for larger groups: The bunk bed bedroom is tight - the beds are comfortable, but there is limited floor space. Nancy is incredibly responsive and a pleasure to work with. Her house really feels like home - it is inviting and cozy and has everything that one needs ❤️

Charming, sunny, and spacious two-bedroom apartment in a quiet residential area. Five-minute walk to shops, restaurants, and the Village Green, and a five-minute bike ride to Acadia National Park.
The apartment is on the first floor of a lovely old two-family house. We bought this building almost two years ago, and have had a blast renovating it. We've updated the interior, which is bright, airy, and very comfortable, but we are still working on landscaping and painting the exterior. You can follow the renovation progress on Instagram at JennSBooher. We just installed a washer and dryer! Having traveled all over the world with young children, we have definite opinions about what makes a vacation apartment comfortable. You'll find our priorities reflected here: central location, comfortable beds, good wi-fi, and cleanliness. The well-equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, coffee-maker, microwave, good knives, a lobster pot, and lobster crackers. There are board games, puzzles, playing cards, and books, as well as an excellent wi-fi connection [60Mbps down and 5Mbps up]. No cable, but the Roku TV has Netflix pre-loaded. The outdoor spaces are still in progress, but there is a small deck off the living room and a Weber propane grill.
If you head right on Ledgelawn when you leave the house, it's a 10 minute walk to the Park Loop Road (the main road in Acadia National Park). Head left and it's an even shorter walk to restaurants, stores, and bike rentals. Main Street is about 4 minutes away.
  • Photos don't do this listing justice! It's beautifully decorated and so so spacious. It's very close (walking distance) to everything you'd want to do in Bar Harbor. Make sure to take advantage of Jennifer's great local knowledge for things to do, restaurants, and hikes. The kitchen is stocked with basics (like olive oil, tea/coffee, spices, etc), which was very helpful. She's even preloaded the Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc accounts with her username and password in case you don't have one! She takes great care to think of every detail to enhance your stay. That thoughtfulness, coupled with a beautiful apartment, makes this the "must stay" place in Bar Harbor!

    Lillian2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the deck off the back of the house... we had great weather so we really enjoyed being able to have drinks and food outside! Also Jenn and Brian were instantly attentive in replacing the propane tank in the grill (when we needed to grill for lunch), and they even delivered some brand new cafe tables to the deck while we were there!!

    Karen2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with huge bedrooms, a brightly lit living room, and a nice deck for grilling and sitting.

    Elizabeth2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location and value, adorable apartment and Jennifer was such a helpful host. I would absolutely come back!

  • The location of this home is fantastic! Staying here you will truly appreciate the views walking to the harbor. Plenty of space and amenities offered with the property.

  • Jennifer's place was wonderful. Everything was perfect , really clean , good size apartment for the 5 of us , the location is perfect close to restaurants, even if not many are open in February, and close to the park. Some hikes are walking distance from Jennifer's place. We had a great time.

    Isabelle2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, quiet yet close to everything MDI has to offer. Jenn was a great host and provided lots of valuable off-season info making our stay a great one!

  • Jennifer’s place is just lovely; very charming and clean. The location is perfect for exploring Acadia during the day with easy access to town at night. Jenn was easy to communicate with and very hospitable. Highly recommend!

  • Great location, Logan the host is very nice!

    Yue2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Logan was a very helpful host. Logan communicated with me regularly leading up to and throughout our stay. We received a lot of great recommendations from him. The house is large, clean and very convenient to town. We were able to walk almost anywhere in Bar Harbor and it was an easy drive to Acadia.

    Theresa2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had good time there and it was clean.

    Rajesh2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this house! It's clean, bright, and spacious. The house has been updated and remodeled. Yet many of the original touches remain and that makes it feel authentically Bar Harbor. The beds are comfortable, the linens fresh. The bathrooms were spotless and new. The dining room had a huge table where we enjoyed our meals. I loved the front porch too. It was the perfect place to have a glass of wine after a day of hiking. And the barbecue grill off the back deck is very convenient as well. The living room had a great sectional and a flatscreen TV with tons of shows to watch on Amazon and Netflix. Logan was a welcoming host. Lightning fast to respond to all of my requests. Perhaps Best of all is the in-town location. There are so many great shops and restaurants to walk to. We even hiked to the Acadia, it's about a mile away to the closest entrance. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, and cannot wait to return!

    Gillian2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Logan's place for the Mount Desert Island marathon. The house is a very quick walk to the start line of the race -- great for runners and spectators. The house is also a quick stroll to all the shops and restaurants in town. You can plan to park your car and easily walk everywhere. We had 7 girls in the house and we were very comfortable. There was more than enough sleeping space. Everyone said their beds were comfortable. We really appreciated the nice long dining table where we could all sit together. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and plates for the night we cooked in. Having two full bathrooms was key for us and there were plenty of towels for everyone. Logan sent a very nice welcome message with local tips. He also welcomed me via message once we got settled in. I felt that I could have asked for help at any time if we'd needed it. I highly recommend this house.

    Julie2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I came down for my birthday with a group of my gfs and the place was lovely, comfortable and very clean. All the house rules were posted on the walls in frames so it was easy to keep track of what needed to be done. Logan was a great host and offered many suggestions as to what to do in the area. It was definitely one of the few places that I did not want to leave as it was as comfortable as being at home. The convenience of the stores and restaurants was so easy to walk to. The girls and I loved the games that were sitting on the porch as well - it made a great fun late night! I would suggest just bringing a pair of socks/slippers as the whole place is hard wood floor and tiles for warmth! Will certainly be going back!!

  • Lovely Maine townhouse in a central location. Great food recommendations and local advice from Logan.

    Ilya2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great family vacation for a few days at the start of April school vacation. Logan is a great host, the location is ideal, the cottage is adorable and is stocked with everything needed. Although a little cool during the off season it was nice to get to see and do anything we wanted without crowds. We are planning a return trip.

The Look Nook is a Queen room with a private bathroom (shower).
  • When I checked in I noticed there was only body wash in the shower and no shampoo. I asked the host for shampoo since it’s an essential and also listed on his ad as something he provides. He was very short with me and stated that he could not provide me with shampoo and the only thing he provides is in fact the body wash/bath foam that’s in the shower and that I had to wash my hair with that. I was there for my anniversary and we were planning a romantic dinner the following day and he ruined our plans. I unfortunately had to live with greasy hair for 24 hours (we were hiking in Maine the passed two days). I think it’s awful that someone would think they can run a guest house without shampoo especially since it’s explicitly listed as something he provides. I think it’s even worse that upon my asking for it instead of being accommodating and providing something he has LISTED and that I PAID for, he chose to be rude. air bnb is great when hosts are responsible for their guests comfort just as a hotel manager is but it’s awful when they’re in it just to make money because there’s no guarantee or support from Airbnb when things like this happen. When an essential is missing on a trip it can ruin an entire day and at home this wouldn’t be a big deal but when you’re on vacation it can totally ruin a trip.

  • Deborah’s place was so nice! Perfect for a couple looking to explore Acadia

  • Deborah's carriage house is beautiful and the perfect size for two people looking to spend some time in Acadia. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking tools, and we had everything we needed to do all of our cooking. Deborah was prompt with responses, and kindly left plenty of guides and pamphlets on the area for guests' use. I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Deborah‘s carriage house is a wonderful place, quiet and idyllic situated in the woods. We‘ve seen deers, wild turkeys and squirrels there. The house is new, stylishly furnished and very comfortable. We felt like home. The village centre with nice restaurants, café‘s and shops is not far. We would come back at any time!

  • A great base for exploring the island. Really homey and cozy spot. Debbie is very kind.

  • Fantastic little property nestled within the heart of the national park. Great walks, shops and fresh lobster nearby.

  • Great location, beautiful space. Quiet and recommend to any couple headed to Acadia.

  • The carriage house was a fantastic place to call home for a long weekend. With a secluded setting on the "quiet side" of the island, we found it very easy to unplug and relax. We found that it was walking distance from our favorite Acadia hike, a short (<10 min) drive from our favorite lobster rolls, and that we could easily make our way to Bar Harbor for some touristy time. We will definitely be back!

  • Lovely spot. Super quiet. Darling decor. Well stocked if you want to cook. Very convenient to the park and town. No downside whatsoever. There were MANY places to choose from when we booked and we are very pleased we chose Fernald Point. Thank you!

Acadia Access Cottage is a 2 bedroom (one with queen bed, one with two singles) stand alone cottage. It is very private and pastoral but in a wonderful central location to enjoy all of Mt.Desert Island and Acadia National Park.
Acadia Access Cottage is very private but central to our beautiful island. It has a very well appointed kitchen and a peaceful view. Our renters have been very pleased. See (website hidden) reviews (phone number hidden).
Acadia Access Cottage is a very private place. On the 1/2 mile drive up from Eagle Lake you will pass 4 driveways. Our home is about 100 yards from the cottage but quite secluded. In addition there is a small cabin on the property with occasional use by family or friends.
  • We loved staying at Acadia Access. The cottage was immaculate. This location is great for exploring the island and we enjoyed being away from the heavy tourist activity in Bar Harbor. We highly recommend staying at the cottage!

  • My husband and I loved staying here! The house is beautiful and unique. We enjoyed all of the nooks and book selections. We had a wonderful view of October's gorgeous foliage from the expansive living room windows. The property is enchanting. Finding a hiking trail from their backyard was easy and beautiful. We were lucky to experience a couple of crisp, bright, star-filled nights while staying there. It was easy to enjoy magnificent views from inside (so many cool skylights!) and outside of the home. There are homes nearby, but we felt secluded and away from it all which was just what we were looking for. Philip and Astri have spent time collecting and putting together valuable information for visitors. They offer many suggestions on thing to do and places to see, especially within Acadia National Park. We were inspired by the cool kitchen layout and storage spaces. We had meant to cook and make good use of it, but we found ourselves out at many of the recommended restaurants throughout our stay! Philip and Astri's place was a wonderful choice for our Bar Harbor visit, and we would love to come back!

  • The Acadia Cottage exceeds expectations. It is in a very private location. Possible the best location for exploring all the area has to offer. We went right after a large snow and I was uncertain as to what would be open or available. Turns out Acadia in the winter may be almost as interesting as in the summer if you do not mind colder weather. The Cottage was well appointed with very clear directions on how everything opperated. Very clean and cozy space to stay. I would go there anytime !

  • Philip and Astri were wonderful hosts. Their cottage was a great place to call home for week while we explored Acadia National Park.

  • The cottage was excellent! The perfect hub for exploring Acadia and MDI. Great recommendations, thoughtful touches, clean, and nice hot shower! It really is a beautiful space and would make anyone's trip to Acadia better if they stayed here! Loved the property it was on. Philip was an excellent host and everything was seamless and easy! Highly recommended!

  • This second floor space is light, spacious, and beautiful and overlooks the wooded property. Quiet and private, but very close to the park...great location. You'll find most of what you need in the cottage, and if not, your charming hosts are ready to help!
