Welcome to our Loft. Nestled into the side of one of the highest points on the Bunya Mountains, Queensland, and centrally located in peaceful surrounds makes it the perfect place for a relaxing break. The Bunyas is always about 6 degrees cooler than the surrounding area. Nature abounds with friendly wallabies, possums, bandicoots, echidnas, and the colourful king parrots and crimson rosellas are amongst the abundant birdlife.
The Bunya Loft is a spacious self contained studio unit which is attached to the side of our house over the garage where you will have undercover parking. It has a separate entrance for your privacy. The Bunya Loft has its own private fenced courtyard with a BBQ area. The adjacent block is where our Clydesdales are kept when we have tours booked. Inside you will find a comfy queen size bed and two single beds, TV area, kitchenette and private bathroom. The raked timber ceilings give the self contained unit a country feel. There are books to read, games to play, dvd‘s to watch and a few toys for small children. We hope you will feel very much at home when you stay. The kitchenette has all you need to provide for yourself or we are only a short drive (2 km) to the local restaurants and whiskey bar. It is an easy enough 15 min walk down the hill if you prefer to just park the car and walk. The makings for tea and coffee are provided. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, hand basin and wash basin and is equipped with basic toiletries and a hair dryer. For those colder months, we have a fireplace down stairs at the back of the garage which heats the loft very nicely. Firewood is provided.
There are National Park walks of varying lengths and difficulty to explore , craft markets on the last Sunday of every month , restaurants and Horse Drawn tours which we have been running for over 30 years . We are happy to advise on day trips from the Bunya Mountains as well.

UDAKAK LODGE sits proud, facing Bunya Avenue and is the very first house in the gated Bunya Mountains Rainforest Estate - Lot 1 Firefly Drive! Enjoy the best of both worlds in our chalet style home. We have a beautifully appointed 3 bedroom house, with a queen bed in each, on two levels. Wonderfully wide verandahs on three sides allows plenty of bird watching/feeding, al fresco dining or just simply enjoying the serenity! When the weather is cooler, a glowing fire keeps the house toasty warm!
On arrival you can park the car and not use it again till you are leaving, as Udakak Lodge is positioned perfectly within walking distance of everything on the mountain.
Straight across the road from Udakak Lodge is Qld National Parks and Wildlife Hut with Rangers present most of the time. Just a short stroll pass them is our local general store. With the closest supermarket being an hour away, The General Store is often described as the ‘lifesaver on the mountain’. They stock an impressive array of household items with bags of ice, stamps & newspapers. On warm summer days, ice-creams practically run out the door as do marshmallows in the winter months for toasting. Customers rave about the bottle shop with its competitive priced selection of alcoholic beverages for those who may wish to enjoy a nightcap back at their accommodation. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, The Bunyas Coffee Shop & Tavern is the perfect place to indulge your taste buds. Naturally, bunya nuts feature throughout the extensive menu with items such as the chicken bunya nut salad and the bunya nut scones, jam & cream proving popular with visitors keen to taste some local goodness! With three beautiful areas to dine: Lyrics, Elz & The Deck you will be treated to a mouth-watering dining experience in the surrounds of the serene National Park. I've also been told the International Whiskey Bar has never disappointed!!
