In an area of outstanding beauty, has a wooded valley with a river running through within 5 minutes of the cottage door. The open moors are also close by and its only 1 mile to Dulverton which is a charming little town with plenty of pubs and restaurants. Space to park 2 cars and a large garden with seating for exclusive use to the guests. I live on the site and am available to answer any questions or give you some pointers on where to go in the surrounding area. In a rural and private location but with the convenience of a town just a mile away. Not very good public transport, would advise coming by car. Wild red deer often in the park above the lodge.
We are in the Exmoor National Park, with stunning scenery and easily accessible tourist information in the local village, 1.5 miles (it houses the National Parks headquarters).
  • Endroit idéal pour profiter de la faune sauvage du parc. Endroit calme. La propriétaire est avenante et agréable même si nous ne l'avons jamais vue. Le gîte reste dans un style Old fashion.

  • We loved our stay at Melinda's lovely cottage. It was spotless on arrival and had everything we needed. The location is just perfect too, situated on the edge of the stunning park and walking distance to the town of Dulverton. We stayed in late Februrary and, despite the cold, the cottage stayed extremely warm and cosy. We can't wait to come back again!

  • Lovely cottage, good amenities in a lovely area. Host immediately available and willing to flexible.

  • Sehr ruhig gelegenes Häuschen. Alles hat gepasst. Sehr zu empfehlen.

  • We enjoyed staying in this charming countryside cottage, made even more romantic by its history and bucolic surroundings. We liked the spaciousness and overall feeling of comfort and cuteness. We were lucky with pleasant weather and enjoyed tea and later dinner out in the garden. Two complaints from fussy me - the bathroom was downstairs, a little too far from the bedrooms which are upstairs; the lack of free WiFi.

  • Great Lodge, suitable for a peacefull holiday for a family or friends. It was just what I wanted - a cosey house with a big garden, in the beautiful landscape of Exmoor. We took the footpaths into the woods or to the river from the house, went to the lovely little town to eat or buy food (2 minutes away by car or a lovely walk all the way to the village through the wood). Highly recomended!

Buchan Cottage is named after John Buchan, author of "The Thirty Nine Steps", and there are 39 steps from the road level up to the private sunbathing terrace in the garden. The cottage is a 5 minute walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Dulverton, and a short drive or a longer hike to the woods and moors of Exmoor National Park. We are very well equipped and comfortable, with a wood burning stove for winter evenings. We welcome dogs, so bring yours and come for a wonderful stay!
Wonderfully positioned on the edge of Dulverton, we are well placed to explore the whole of Exmoor, and yet it is a short stroll home from the pub or restaurant at night - no need for designated drivers here!
Dulverton is a uniquely friendly small town. It has 2 deli's, a wonderful second hand bookshop, gift shops, boutiques and a gents outfitters and many more small independent shops........England as it used to be! The famous "Woods" bar and restaurant is a must - multiple winner of "National Wine Pub of the Year", our guests always recommend a meal here, and another at "The Bridge", a quintessential traditional English pub, serving the delicious "Exmoor Ale". Tongdam Thai Restaurant has a lovely garden terrace, strung with fairy lights for summer, and a cosy woodburner for winter nights, you can even take your dog with you!
  • We are a family of four plus small dog and had a wonderful stay. The cottage was warm and cozy, pretty, well located in the Exmoor National Park, and contained everything we needed. We were warmly welcomed with a bottle of wine and a cake. We found everything for self check in and easy check out where stated. A great base for Exploring the moors and villages of the Exe valley. Most pubs are dog friendly and have excellent food which was surprisingly, very reasonably priced for what we ordered. The local village has a late opening COOP within walking distance. Wonderful break - defiantly worth another visit.

  • We had the most amazing time staying in Jennie & Malcolm's cottage. The cottage was lovely with breath taking views & all you can hear is the sound of the river. The village & surrounding area were outstanding!! We met endless friendly locals in the pubs, we went to Woods & the Bridge & loved both, they made us feel really welcome. We walked along the river every day with our doggy who was heaven the entire time! The river was shallow enough for him to just run around in it - perfect!! We'll definitely be back!!!!

    Samantha2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and cosy cottage! Great location good pubs and walks nearby! Perfect for a couple of days break in contact with the nature!!

    Gloria2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a superb getaway for anyone who appreciates the great outdoors. 5 mins level walk from Dulverton once you've negotiated the 39 steps! Don't believe the naysayers when it comes to parking, if you tuck in close to the wall there's plenty of room. The cottage is likely to be chilly when you get there, but if you put the heaters on and go and have an explore round Dulverton it will be toasty when you get back! Take some wood for the log burner or buy at the co op in Dulverton. Eat scotch eggs and drink local beer in the super-friendly Bridge Inn. Our dog particularly enjoyed his evening walk along the leat spying on the sleeping ducks. All in all a fab weekend getaway and we are hooked on Exmoor!

    Lindsay & Rich2017-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is raised up above the river, so we all slept wonderfully listening to the sounds of the water. We (four adults) had an extremely comfortable stay, exploring Dulverton (lovely shops. For a special occasion food at Woods is wonderful!) and Dunster (castle well worth a visit, Luttrell arms bar great for food). Jennie and Malcolm were great communicators with lots of knowledge of the area, happy to recommend walks/activities for all ambitions. We did the simple 3m loop walk around Dulverton in the end (great views!) and found Chanterelle mushrooms (our first find of these in the UK) by Marsh Bridge. The cottage is up some steep steps and the terrace even more so, I'd be careful with little folk and as the hosts have said it's not suitable for those with mobility problems - but was perfect for our needs. Highly recommended, we will be back!!

    Jessica2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location to enjoy Exmoor! Very peaceful and the sound of the Exe outside just enhanced the experience. Cake, wine and milk when you arrive, what could be better!

Exmoor National Park - charming 200 year old detached stone cottage nestles into the hillside overlooking the small country town of Dulverton. Offering the best of both worlds as the comfortable cottage is an excellent base for experiencing & exploring the unspoilt beauty of Exmoor with its wooded coombes, open moors and dramatic coastline but with a range of restaurants, pubs & shops just a short stroll away.
Perfect for couples and up to two well behaved dogs are welcome.
  • Cottage as described and situated in a great location for exploring Exmoor. Dulverton has plenty of shops and eateries. We had a great stay but do think the cottage would benefit from some updating (decor a bit tired). The bed is a bit modest in size for those of above average height. We would be happy to return for another stay.

Trout Cottage is set in a stunning location, with land next to an old weir. Newly renovated, and full of old world charm that's warm and cozy. Unwind with the sound of the relaxing fall of the water and enjoy a breathtaking breakfast by the river. Nature abounds here. Enjoy walking, bird watching and fishing, to biking and kayaking. Yet it's still just a short pretty walk to the town center past 'chocolate box' cottages to the local pubs and cafes. A place to be home from home.
With fabulous views all around, you can even take a break on the private strip of land by the river. Somewhere to have breakfast, a coffee or a BBQ perhaps? There is also space here to park kayaks or bikes off road. Let me know if fishing for Trout or Salmon is of interest to you as there may be fishing rights here too!
It's a small walk along the leat to the town centre which has an all day opening Co-op (till 11pm), some cozy pubs which also do catering and various shops and eateries.
  • Location location location!! .... and a great host make this place a keeper! Walk to the village, relax on the river or couch. Easy access to beautiful walks and features close by. Friendly helpful neighborhood also. Recommended!!

  • The location is outstanding, the river is beautiful. Ric has just done the cottage up to a very high standard and it is spotless as well. He is most thoughtful and welcoming and flexible about arrivals. It is an area with variable mobile signal so a good idea to clarify any details before travel.

    Alice2018-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Richard is a very friendly guy. Super helpful and accommodating. His place is right at the edge of the river and is amazing

    Eli2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Richard was friendly and welcoming. We felt right at home. Breakfast down some stone stairs to sit besides the pretty river was a real treat.

    Maggie2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ric’s place is in an absolutely beautiful setting, a stream running right by the front door. It is just a 5 minute walk to Dulverton centre which has a few nice pubs (we liked the Bridge) and other shops. It is also well located for exploring the National Park with one highly recommended day hike beginning in Dulverton itself. Ric was a very friendly and accommodating host who made us feel very welcome throughout our stay.

    Leah2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Trout Cottage was a joy. Rick is a great host and his cottage is a lovely place to stay. He made sure we had what we wanted for breakfast. A nice relaxed atmosphere, we were really made to feel at home. The spacious room, with its view over the river, was amazing with a great wet room and comfortable bed. The location is excellent with only a 5 minute walk into town. It suited our needs perfectly and we would go back anytime.

    Stuart2018-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyable stay. The views are outstanding with the river right outside and the surrounding hills. Ric was very welcoming and made us feel at home. He also provided useful information about the area. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard and the ensuite room was quite big and met our needs perfectly. The town with its pubs, restaurants and shops is only 5 minutes walk. We had dinner in the town both nights and were not disappointed.

    Rod2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely old cottage renovated and modernised brilliantly by Richard. Big room with a lovely view to the river and a beautiful little en suite shower room. Richard was very hospitable and made me feel at home in his house. The road outside the house is very narrow so there’s not a lot of parking space but Richard was very helpful in advising where to park. Got some good tips on local pubs and places to see too. Would definitely recommend!

  • Andy's place is wonderful!! Clean, updated, and comfortable. Would absolutely recommend!

    Emilee2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for three nights during my cousin's wedding. It is incredibly clean, newly remodeled, well furnished, comfortable, and well positioned in the town. I had family members staying in various B&Bs, and all of them wished they had been able to stay at Proffitt's Cottage. The town itself is charming- I suggest the English Breakfast at the Copper Kettle. Thanks Andy for a great stay.

  • Great location, great cottage!

    Stephen2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location. Extremely central to Dulverton which has all you might need including a late night Co-Op food shop for drinks and provisions. The lane to access the property is very narrow and parking is only inside a garage a few meters away from the front door. No issues if you can do a 3 point turn in the car. No outside space with the property such as a garden or patio but beautiful views and walks nearby. We recommend Dunkery Beacon and walk across the bridge at the bottom of the town, turn right and there is a wonderful walk parallel with the river which was great to let the dogs stretch their legs. We really appreciated the dog bowls and blanket. Sky TV downstairs and basic wifi service suited our needs. The kitchen has all you need and the cottage was very clean. Beautiful bathroom with nice hot shower. Would sleep 4 comfortably. Patchy mobile reception but worked fine upstairs. Not important if you are looking to get away from it all.

    Haydn2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage ideal for exploring Exmoor. Well fitted out and having a garage for parking is a bonus

    Graham2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Andy's cottage. It was compact but perfect for our family of three. The cottage is really central so we could walk to the pubs, cafes, shops in minutes and five mins to the local play park. The cottage is modern and clean. There's no bath for younger kids but our 5 year old loved the shower - so no real problem there! Andy was quick with responses to questions and would recommend this place :)

Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families, big groups and up to 2 dogs. The cottage is centrally heated and also has log burners for that cosy feeling. It is 5 minutes walk from Dulverton town pubs and restaurants so park up at the end of the day and relax; no need to worry about whose turn to drive. There is a riverside garden on the other side of the road for use from Easter - September, great for a relaxing lunch and total peace.
There is a cosy sitting room with log burner, a separate dining room and a kitchen. A bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. There are many places to visit on Exmoor eg Dunster Castle, Tarr Steps, Wimbleball lake for water activities, Lynton and Lynmouth, also snowdrop valley in February. The walking is fantastic with moorland and coastal areas, you can walk from the front door. Dulverton itself has a variety of shops, an art gallery, Exmoor National Park Headquarters and visitor centre and heritage centre to visit.
Dulverton is a thriving small town in the Somerset side of Exmoor. There are lovely welcoming pubs and restaurants within the town and also further afield, if you are only visiting for the weekend and want to eat out you may want to book a table in advance. It is within easy reach of the coast and less than an hour from Exeter city which is a great place to visit.

  • Lovely 3 bedroomed cottage with a wonderful private garden by the river. Well equipped cottage and well located to explore Exmoor

  • Such a lovely lovely place. Location is great and the house is just beautiful. Lovely small touches and amenities were great. Road outside is very thin, however you can park on that road. Heating is fantastic, sofa is so comfy, beds were perfect. Only downside was that we put the hot water on twice and both times it did nothing, so I couldn’t bath which was a let down. Garden is the other side of the road but the village is so small and quiet that it’s not a problem and it’s worth the walk!!! Wonderful stay.

    Danielle2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely characterful house with plenty of space for 6 people. Close to town and the river and also with a lovely garden. Plenty to do locally and a great base for discovering the area. Good communication from the owners .

  • Dulverton was a lovely place to stay and explore Exmoor. We did a couple of wonderful walks. The cottage was clean and as expected. Would be a bit small for 6 but ok for 4. An easy walk to the village. We ate at The Lion and would not recommend. Apparently the Woods is very good. Thanks for a lovely few days in rural England.

  • A very secluded and quiet location. Christina was a fabulous host and met me on arrival and made sure I was acquainted with everything. Stunning area for walks. Wifi was good but mobile reception is poor but that is the same for most of rural Devon. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

  • Lovely location and nice host.

    Leigh2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Christina was a very welcoming host and looked after us very well, making sure we were very comfortable. The room is quite small but has a lovely view out over Exmoor and we enjoyed breakfasting and looking out over. Breakfast was lovely and Chris contacted us to find out what we would like which was kind of her. Easy going and relaxed stay which we enjoyed.

  • Christina was welcoming from the first text and email, offering advice and helpful recommendations. She left dog treats in a bowl (very thoughtful touch) and fresh flowers in the room were lovely. The breakfast was delicious!

  • Chris was amazing, even looking after Alfie our dog whilst we attended a wedding most of Saturday. We would thoroughly recommend others visit this wonderful location, right at the foot of Exmoor. You couldn't wish for a better host and set of surroundings.

Delightful two up, two down terraced cottage situated near the centre of the picturesque town of Dulverton. Ideally placed for exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby North Devon Coast. Excellent local amenities. Parking space for two cars available.
The cottage is situated in a very quiet lane just off the Dulverton centre. It's a no through road so only traffic that has business in Chapel Street or Millham Lane comes down.

  • This is a lovely quirky little Victorian house with an interesting layout and a wonderful master bedroom with unexpectedly high ceilings. The walls and downstairs ceiling are all timber clad giving a cosy feel and it is very close to the town centre. The river can be heard in the background creating a relaxing ambience and the bed was very comfortable. A great stay in our favourite Exmoor town. Thank you Andy and Chris!

  • Friends and I were looking for a place to stay in Dulverton and we were so lucky to find the cottage. It was comfortable and cosy, with more space than we had expected. Andy and Chris were fantastic hosts and we immediately swept up into village life. We were made to feel really welcome and at home. The location was perfect for us as so central and everything was in our doorstep. A real gem!

  • A lovely little cottage in a lovely little town in Exmoor. Delightful place to stay. The cottage is quite compact, but warm and very homely. Excellent location, with about half a dozen pubs, plenty of useful shops and Exmoor within 10 mins' walk.

  • We had a fantastic break at Andy and Chris's lovely cottage. Andy and Chris were really friendly and welcoming and made the whole experience easy and stress-free which, given we travelled with 3 energetic kids, was brilliant. They went to loads if trouble to make us feel at home. Dulverton is beautiful - right in the middle of Exmoor with the most amazing walks and scenery.

  • We stayed with Anne and Tony whilst walking the two moors way. Their cottage is very stylish, the location is great - tucked away in a very quiet spot very close to the centre of Dulverton - and we had the best nights sleep =) Anne and Tony were perfect hosts and went out of their way to help us. Thanks again!

  • Ann and Tony are such wonderful hosts who think of everything you might need. The house is in a lovely quiet spot in the village, so a great place to relax but in easy walking distance of places to eat. The room is beautifully decorated and very clean. I very much enjoyed my 4 night stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if I’m in the area again.

  • Tony and Anne were the most amazing hosts ever. We had a wonderful time in their cottage. Thanks a lot again!

  • Wow - what a great AIRBNB experience. This is exactly what I love about AIRBNB..when your welcomed into someone’s home and it feels like you’ve come home. The town itself is lovely and this house is max 5 minutes from the town centre. Both Tony and Ann are wonderful hosts; considerate on so many levels whether that’s making sure you know what’s where in town, making sure you’ve got a brew or making sure you have a hearty breakfast. The room was spotless, the bed was super comfy and the house itself itself is beautiful and full of character. I’m on a trip from lands end to John o Groats and what I really needed on day 5 was to stay somewhere that’s like being given a big hug. Easily recommend it to anyone staying in the area - thanks Tony and Ann for a great stay.

  • Lovely little cottage with fantastic hosts. Perfectly situated in the Devonshire countryside with excellent facilities and easy parking.

  • I received an extremely warm and friendly welcome from John and Anne. The room was perfect and the bathroom although shared was immaculate. The sharing didn’t matter at all as John and Anne were very considerate in their own use of it! The house is a little difficult to find so make sure you get directions in advance!

Woodleigh is a beautiful and historic gem - a comfortable and cosy cottage with its own garden, a log fire and wooden beams. Set in a quiet location within minutes' walk of central Dulverton, a lively spot and the gateway to Exmoor National Park's stunning walks, rides and pubs. You'll be amazed at the range of shops and delicious food and drink available in the town - from Thai at Tong Dam to the UK's award-winning wine pub of the year - Woods. Woodleigh has free and a storeroom for bikes etc.
In the Summer, sit outside in your own garden space and enjoy a cold glass of local cider. There are plenty of local walks, riding and watersports. Woodleigh is perfect for a romantic trip to the country or a family break with up to two children. In the winter, cosy-up in front of the log-burner.
Dulverton is known as the Gateway to Exmoor National Park. You can get to the Moor in minutes by car or by walking directly from the town.
  • Jane and her husband Bill were fantastic hosts! Jane provided an excellent guide to the local restaurants before our stay. Bill was very accommodating and attentive during our stay. The cottage was absolutely charming, excellent amenities and even a bottle of wine in the fridge! Would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. I stayed for business, but already planning a trip to go back for a long weekend so I can explore the area. Absolutely stunning location.

  • Jane and family were simply superb hosts and made us feel very welcome throughout our 3 days with them. The cottage itself is simply wonderful and for us as a family, combined with our lifestyle suited us. It was fitted with everything you need, with a fire place that was just amazing. All amenities you'd expect were there, clean tidy and with a couple of lovely welcome treats for our arrival (perfect). We cannot recommend this property enough. Thanks so very much for a wonderful and memorable stay.

Our house is located in the beautiful town of Dulverton. The house has recently been modernised and was previously a dairy. Some of the furniture has changed since taking the photos. It has a bathroom and shower room downstairs as well as two good sized bedrooms. Upstairs is an open plan living room, kitchen and dining room. There is no garden but the house is next to the Church Yard and on the edge of Exmoor.
Dulverton is a delightful small town in the Barle Valley on the southern side of Exmoor and is also known as Exmoor’s Southern Gateway. Dulverton has a wide selection of shops, cafes, award winning restaurants and pubs. On the whole these are run by independent traders. If you plan to eat out in the town it is advisable to book, as the restaurants do get very busy. Close by you will find Tarr Steps which is a medieval clapper bridge over the River Barle, iron age hill forts and a castle. For further information on Dulverton Town Council website is very useful:

Wisteria Cottage is a cosy weekend B & B in the heart of the picturesque town of Dulverton, situated on the southern edge of Exmoor National Park. The one double room is in a private annexe, so you can come and go as you please. The room is warm, quiet and features an en-suite shower and wc. Breakfast is included in the price, featuring homemade artisan breads and you can choose between the traditional Full English and other cooked breakfasts such as Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros.
The fact we only cater for one party of guests at a time means that the atmosphere is very laid back – we want our guests to have a really relaxing stay. We take our time in preparing breakfast just the way the guests want it and the guests can take their time to enjoy it.
Dulverton is the perfect base for exploring all that Exmoor and the surrounding areas have to offer. The town itself has a selection of good pubs, restaurants and cafes, so regardless of whether you have been for an all day hike, a 50 mile bike ride or you’ve just been browsing the local shops, you will not be short of choice for places to satisfy your appetite or quench your thirst. There are plenty of independent shops where you can buy everything from locally produced cakes and pasties to gifts, clothing and items for the home. There is also a supermarket for those essentials. Once you leave the town, you can then enjoy the scenery that Exmoor is renowned for; from the exposed high moors to secluded wooded valleys, fast flowing rivers and the spectacular cliffs on the north coast. There are plenty of picturesque villages and small towns, together with a variety of attractions suitable for all ages and interests.
  • Good clean place with helpful host that goes the extra mile. Home made bread and a great choice of breakfasts. Book without fear!

A beautiful Victorian cottage offering a quiet and private escape but just two minutes from the centre of Dulverton, with a good choice of shops, restaurants, pubs and tea rooms - although it might take a little longer to walk back! Sleeping up up to 4 guests in two double bedrooms, this property is well suited to couples and friends looking for a peaceful break - only interrupted by the sound of the church clock. Please note this cottage does not accept pets or children. Thank you.

Nestled in woodland at the edge of the renowned Barle Valley, Northmoor exudes a relaxed, romantic atmosphere come rain or shine. Built in 1856 by the owner of a large lead works in newly industrialised Newcastle, Northmoor still proudly fulfils its original vocation and offers a perfect rural retreat to relax and enjoy oneself.
Sensitively restored, the house is little altered since Victorian times and many original features, such as servants bells and the butlers bath stowed in a cupboard make Northmoor a facinating place to stay and explore. The large kitchen offers ample modern facilities to cater for all occupants during your stay. The billiards room, along with table tennis and table football will provide plenty of indoor entertainment. A disabled access bathroom and bedroom on the ground floor, and no steps throughout the ground floor mean that Northmoor can be enjoyed by all. Catering available on request or you are welcome to use the kitchen to cater for yourselves.
In Exmoor National Parl with moorland and woodlands nearby for walks and Dulverton only a mile and a half down the road with all the conveniences, pubs and cafes you will need.
  • Such a special place. The house is amazing - full of character and charm - but for us what really made Northmoor special was the grounds. Truly stunning. We were lucky enough to have had great weather and spent most of the time in the gorgeous gardens - going for walks down to the river, bbqing (we used a local caterer who were excellent) and lounging around. We had such a great stay and Tammy was incredibly helpful.

    Michelle2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely country manor with lots of period features-feel like you're part of Downton Abbey! Take advantage of the catering service as was excellent value for money. Tammy on hand for speedy check in and very accommodating with the requirements of a corporate event. Sadly this wasn't a social or holiday trip but it ticked all the boxes for what we needed.

A large comfortable first floor room with your own en-suite facilities. You also get a TV with FreeSat, a sofa, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a very comfortable standard double bed. You'll be completely private, and will find your room nice and quiet. Tea and coffee are available in the kitchen any time - just help yourself. We'll treat you like you are family, and our aim is to make you feel very welcome
You will have your own private space in the heart of our lovely former farmhouse. The centre of the house is the kitchen and that's where you'll find one of us most of the time. It’s also where we'll cook and serve you breakfast. Our sitting room is off the kitchen so we're always on hand if you need anything. Your room is upstairs and very private. We are in a very quiet rural hamlet on the outskirts of a village free of anything that might reasonably be called facilities
We are very rural: there are no facilities of any kind within walking distance. Dulverton and its shops and pubs, such as The Bridge or Woods, and the Thai Tong Dam (all 3; booking essential), is 3+ miles away and Bampton is only a little further at 8+ miles and provides further facilities including a couple of general stores, a green grocer as well as a butcher and bakers. There are lots of cafes as well as the award winning Swan Inn, noted for excellent dining and Bridge House. Booking for all the food places is essential in the evening during the (extended) holiday seasons. Slightly further and in the opposite direction is the market town of South Molton, about 12 miles away, whilst the whole of Exmoor is but a mile or so from our door, with amazing views, wonderful scenery and other great pubs and places to explore. The N Devon coast lies across the moor and provides gorgeous sandy beaches such as Woolacombe and Croyde; a little over an hour away. There are some great walks from our door, as well as the whole of the world famous Exmoor to explore in foot, by bike or in a car. Our nearest sizable town is Tiverton with its station, Tiverton Parkway.

  • The perfect stay for a Devonshire get away. Ros and Paul where fantastic, we couldn't have found ourselves in the company of better hosts. They were very welcoming and gave great advice on the local area as well as offering friendly conversation and a cuppa every time we returned to the house. They even offered to drop us off for our dinner in Dulverton and pick us up after. Ros and Paul cooked us a great breakfast everyday and the special Sunday Brunch is well worth having (we were full all day!). They were chatty and easy to get on with, but also were more than happy when we wanted to relax and have some privacy. The converted farmhouse was amazing and exceeded our expectations, we had very large clean room with a comfy bed and large TV our own en-suite with a fantastic shower. We stayed here during our walking holiday, it was a great location to explore more of Exmoor NP with long day walks and shorter walking routes easily accessible from here. We'd definitely be happy to come and stay again, felt very much at home and relaxed after a long weekend here, thank you!

  • Great place, great people. Wonderfully peaceful hideaway. Really enjoyed everything about our trip. Recommend Dulverton, 10 minutes away, for character, history and at least 2 great pub/restaurants (Woods & The Bridge).

  • This is a really lovely place to stay- the room is very spacious, light and airy. The home and room are beautifully kept and clean. Ros, Paul and Nick were very caring and thoughtful hosts- providing us with a wonderful breakfast and tips for exploring the local area! A fantastic place to stay to explore Exmoor and surrounding areas! Thank you all for making our brief stay so relaxing and easy!

  • Travelling can be judged by what happens when you cross the threshold of your destination: You immediately know what it’s going to be like: This slightly off-the-beaten-track Grade II 18C farmhouse and adjacent cottage has been cleverly and very sensitively transformed into a ‘Tardis’ that winds its way from the hall through living spaces, each of which is a talking point from the furniture, the pictures, and the everything that becomes here from the very well travelled hosts and then up the stairs to a perfect bedroom + en-suite. Our host, Ros is amazing as is Paul and Ros’s son, Nick. Nothing is too much trouble .... and yet it’s quietly like home from home. Breakfast is double yolk eggs from just down the road , speciality breads, local jams .... and Fortnum & Mason Honey .... and whatever else you might want. For our last breakfast we were served local pheasant sausages, prime back bacon, tomato and a ginormous poached egg along with toast and everything else ..... Didn’t want to leave! Exebridge (The Anchor) and Dulverton (Shops, Restaurants, Cafes etc.) are a short drive away (10-15 minutes) . East Anstey is a great place to use as a base to explore this end of Exmoor National Park ... We were there for 3 nights and really, REALLY enjoyed our stay there .... Thank you Ros, and Paul and Nick. Brillian (Website hidden by Airbnb)

The Old School House dates back to 1836 and was used as the Brushford village school until a new schoolroom was built in 1895 then the Old School House became the Headmaster’s home. Adjacent to the property is the village church which dates back to the 13th century. Old School House has been renovated and redecorated to a very high standard, retaining many original features including a small bread oven in the current dining room fireplace.
  • We had the most amazing long weekend break here. The house is just as it looks in the pictures - its a charming little place with lots of character. The bedrooms are large and beds all comfortable. It was everything we hoped it. Check in was nice and easy - we just wish we could have stayed longer.

  • We all had a wonderful weekend staying at Jane's. The house and gardens are gorgeous and perfect for a big group, six of us and two dogs. We were there for a weekend walking and it couldn't be better located with walks on the doorstep and the moors only a short trip away. Bill and Jane were wonderful hosts and really helpful. They were there to greet us when we arrived, give us a tour of the house and make sure we had everything we might need. I really can't recommend Jane's place enough - come and stay, you wont be disappointed!

  • A great find! It was the perfect house for our group of 8 friends, really comfortable and spacious and we loved the history and character! Jane & Bill were welcoming and friendly and we had everything we needed. Huge garden too, which was so nice to spend the afternoon in the sun with friends! The only thing when looking at the listing is that they pictures don’t really do the place justice - we were all amazed by the place and property when we got there!! Thanks so much Bill & Jane! Definitely recommend this place.

It's just right for large groups (families or adults) and has a really good, relaxed and lived-in feel to it. Dulverton is a great base with good pubs and places to eat. Our hosts gave us recommendations which we followed up on and they were all good.

There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets. Dulverton is known as the southern gateway to Exmoor and is also home to the head quarters of the Exmoor National Park. There are several streets of shops in Dulverton including a butcher, bank, Post Office, fish & chip shop, greengrocer, late-opening supermarket, art gallery, hairdressers, guns and fishing tackle shop. There are also a number of quality boutiques, interesting gift shops plus a handful of lovely restaurants, tea rooms and pub.
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Very comfortable place, has everything you will ever need on holiday. Good views from the balcony. Local supermarket and restaurant only 7 mins walk away. And easy assess to places like Wimbleball lake and Lynmouth. Highly recommended!

  • Stayed at Stapledon Lodge which was beautiful. Stunning location but also only a ten minute drive to the pretty town of Dulverton. Lodge itself had an ensuite shower and bath, king sized bed, lovely open plan living space with wood burner. Our hosts were very welcoming and the stay was perfect. Will definitely be back next time a trip to Devon is in order.

  • Kestrals Lodge at Knapp House is very well appointed and comfortable with two ensuite bedrooms, very efficient central heating and good showers. There is a flight of steps up to the front door and the lodge is totally self-contained. It's on the second floor of the house with Woodpecker Lodge above it. A car is essential as the house is in a rural and secluded location but Dulverton is only about 4 miles away and there are many interesting places to visit nearby. It was perfect for our trip and I will certainly try and stay at Knapp House again.
