We have been running our holiday let for 9 years now so we have the experience to provide an enjoyable holiday. We are situated next to the main road to the coast. It can be busy early mornings and late afternoon but it does allow you quick and easy access to Somerset Dorset and Devon amenites. Cider and homemade cake will on the table when you arrive and milk will be in the fridge so you can make that much needed cup of tea after your journey. A comprehensive information booklet is well worth a read when you get here along with a stack of information leaflets about what to do and where to go.

Although we are in a rural village, access to towns and villages is easy. We have had guests bring their bikes; birdwatchers and serious walkers. Forde Abbey, Tintinhull, East Lambrook and Abbotsbury Gardens are some of the outstanding gardens to visit. Stourhead, Kingston Lacey, Montacute Barrington Court and Hardy's Cottage are some of the National Trust properties that can be done in a day. The coast is just 30 minutes drive. Almost everyone visits West Bay (Broadchurch location) and Lyme Regis which retains its traditional seaside atmosphere. The Jurassic Heritage coast has numerous fishing villages to visit with either a pub or cafe serving the freshest fish and seafood. Crewkerne just a few miles away is developing into an antiques town. Sherborne likewise with the added bonus of its pretty high street excellent eateries and the impressive Sherborne Abbey. If you enjoy eating out - as we do - the list of excellent restaurants, pubs and tea rooms is endless. There are two award winning restaurants in Beaminster just 3 miles away in addition to Mark Hix in Lyme Regis and The Stable for pizza in Bridport.

Welcome to The Pond House! Nestled away at the end of the lane, on the cusp of country walks and soothing views, is where you'll find The Pond House. Just a short drive to the famously beautiful World Heritage Site of The Jurassic Coast and situated in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Pond House is the perfect base to explore some of Dorset's most loved scenery. Max 2 dogs welcome, but please inform me beforehand. A £10 charge may be added at the end if there is extra cleaning.
The Pond House is located along a country lane that ends in a bridle path. There are no noisy main roads or constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet. You have your own detached space with your own parking and entrance. The bedroom and living area is a large studio space with a lovely old restored Villager woodburner facing the bed, so you can fall asleep to the sound of wood cracking away and the orange glow of cosiness. Huge glass doors and large double glazed windows fill the room with light and the view is into your own private garden with a big pond and seating area. This is a newly converted space that was once an old farm building with vast amounts of concrete. It has had new life breathed into it over the past year and the garden and pond are both new, with native trees and fruit trees planted in the hope that it will be a space enjoyed by visiting guests, wildlife, birds and aquatic creatures as the pond is discovered in the spring. The Pond House is rough around the edges and cosy where it counts. It is not luxury, it's cosy and designed as a space to be used by those who are looking for a quiet, relaxed countryside stay with no TV or WIFI. The Kitchen comes stocked with tea and coffee. There is a toaster, hot water, fridge with freezer, a 2 ring hob and saucepans etc. It's basic but has all you will need to cook simple meals. The bathroom is spacious and bright with a flushing toilet, hot water at the sink and an electric shower over a reclaimed bath. The bath does not function as a bath, only as a place to shower. There is an electric towel rail and towels are provided. Please be aware that the wood burner is the only heating in The Pond House. There is no central or electric heating - please be aware of this before you arrive so you are not disappointed. In winter the fire will be lit before you arrive so it will be nice and toasty and you can just relax. Matches and firelighters are provided. The first load of wood is included, if you require more you can purchase another load for £10 or purchase a bag of wood at the garden centre in Bridport. Please only burn wood, the Villager is NOT a multi-fuel burner and burning coal or other fuels may damage it.
We are a 10-15 minute drive from the seaside. West Bay is your closest beach, and it has plenty of places to eat, lots of fish and chip stalls and an old harbour full of boats. Drive west along the coast road and you'll find Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the Jurassic Coast, and Lyme Regis, the fossil capital of the UK and home to some wonderful restaurants. Lewesdon Hill, Dorset's highest hill, is just 5 minutes away by car. Once an Iron Age Hill Fort, it is covered in ancient beech and oak trees and filled with bluebells every spring. We highly recommend a visit and the views at the top will not disappoint. You have some of the best country walks straight from The Pond House. The Brit Valley Way will take you all the way to West Bay and the footpaths around Netherbury offer some gentle and some more challenging walks. For all your foodie needs look no further than Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. Bridport and Beaminster both have great restaurants and pubs and Bridport also has an antiques and food market every Wednesday and Saturday. There are many supermarkets too, takeaways and quiet corners to fill your spirits. We are very lucky to be a short walk from the Award Winning Furleigh Wine Estate. Pre-book for a tour of their vineyards and a tasting session of their fabulous British white wines. The Hare & Hounds pub is a 10-15 minute walk along the footpaths and does great beer and food. It's dog friendly and has a large garden.

Walkers. Writers. Eaters. Retreaters. Welcome to The Cabin! The perfect retreat from modern life. Get back to nature with muddy walks, fresh air and stunning seaside strolls! The Cabin is located in West Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is on the doorstep to some of Dorset's best walks, National Trust sites, Jurassic Coast beaches, award winning restaurants and bustling weekend markets.
We're dog friendly here and so a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome to join you at The Cabin (£10 charge may be added at the end if extra cleaning is necessary, please see house rules if bringing your dog). The Cabin is located along a quiet country lane that ends in a bridle path. There are no noisy main roads or constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet. Just a short drive to the famously beautiful World Heritage Site of The Jurassic Coast and situated in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Cabin is a cosy, quiet base to explore some of Dorset's most loved scenery. For all your foodie needs we highly recommend a visit to the nearby Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. The kitchen is stocked with tea and coffee and the essentials such as a cooker, oven, toaster, fridge with freezer, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans etc. The living area is soft and cosy with a larger Hunter Herald 8 woodburner. This is the only heating in The Cabin and will get the whole place lovely and snug. We provide a starter load of logs which may last you for your whole stay if you're out and about a lot, but if you want to spend 2 days in front of a burning fire you can purchase more logs from us for £10 a bucket, or head to Groves garden centre in Bridport and purchase a bag of seasoned logs for around £6/7. In winter the fire will be lit before you arrive so it will be nice and toasty and you can just relax. Matches and firelighters are provided. Please only burn wood and not other fuels. The Cabin is very comfortable and cosy but it isn’t luxury. Perfect for couples and those looking to just relax. The Cabin is opposite a small organic beef and lamb farm so you should expect to hear a little farm noise as the farmers go about their day. The amount of noise varies depending on the season and if the cows are in the barn during winter. In the summer they're in the fields and noise is at a minimum. It's very much the sound of rural Dorset.
Step out of your front door, turn left and you'll find yourself rambling along a bridle path that connects you to the Brit Valley Way, an 11 mile walking route that meanders through Dorset's stunning countryside all the way to West Bay where you'll see the Jurassic Coast's iconic cliffs and the backdrop to ITV's Boradchurch! Or, if you feel like staying closer to home, head up the road to the beautiful ancient Iron Age hill fort of Lewesdon Hill. It's the highest hill in Dorset and it's a beautiful walk through ancient oaks and beech trees. The view from the top is stunning and one of the best in the county, particularly in spring when the way up is carpeted with bluebells. The Cabin is a short wander along the lane to the award winning Furleigh Wine Estate where you can taste some fantastic British wine and take a guided tour of their vineyards. Why not bring some wine back with you to enjoy beside a toasty fire? Their wine can also be found at Washingpool Farm Shop if you don't have time for a tour. The Cabin is within easy reach of some of West Dorset's best beaches, walks and towns. Bridport is a short drive away and offers fantastic pubs and cafes as well as a busy Wednesday and Saturday market and many antique and vintage shops. Lyme Regis is 20 minutes west and is a must visit if you're a keen fossil hunter (or simply to visit the fudge shop!). We are so lucky to have West Bay, Burton Bradstock, West Bexington, Eype, Charmouth and Lyme Regis beaches in easy reach of The Cabin, so whether you want cliffs or no cliffs, pebbles or sand, lots of people or only a tiny few, there is a beach and a walk to suit you here. Whatever you are visiting for, we hope you enjoy your stay at The Cabin!

The ‘King’s Head’ pub is a mere 75 meters away and has a range of craft ales, ciders, soft drinks and provides coffee; to complement the liquid side it also has a good menu for lunch and evening meals (except Sundays when an extended lunchtime menu provides a more traditional Sunday roast; Closed Mondays).

OFFER - 10% OFF IN MARCH Sutton House hadn't been lived in for 50 years but is now fully restored as a holiday home. It's listed Grade II* with parts dating back to 1650. There's character alongside contemporary fixtures and fittings. At one end you'll find low ceilings, a large fireplace with wood burner and blue lias flagstones. At the other, the 'updated' Georgian front, with sash windows and shutters. The kitchen and bathroom are new, with high-quality fixtures throughout.
People are always surprised when they enter the building, by how big it is. It looks like a little cottage but has many different rooms stretching back from the entrance hall. The last family - the Suttons - lived in it back in the 40s. Since then, it's largely been abandoned until our complete renovation. We've been as green as we can - we've used no cement only lime, paints have all been minimal VOCs (such as Earthborn) or limewash and there's very little PVC in the building. With the exception of a couple of rugs and the stair runner, all the floors are hard materials, which is thought to help asthma sufferers. The room at the back still needs some work. For now, it's part of the garden, but we're open to ideas for what we could do with it! Small dogs are welcome but we would ask that they are kept downstairs, please. Thank you. NEW - FREE CHARGING FOR ELECTRIC CARS
The are many reasons to base your holiday in Crewkerne. The brilliant aqua centre, local food producers (especially Barley Sugar Bakehouse), great walks and the Jurassic Coast. If you've got children, they'll love Bincombe Beeches, and Ninesprings in Yeovil. If you like your art, try Hauser + Wirth in Bruton. Further afield, a day in Exeter is not enough! Indoors, there's Clip and Climb and the RA Museum (which is free!). Outdoors, a boat on the river and swan-watching. Or hop on the train to Exmouth when the sun shines.

This is a newly furbished and fully self-contained cabin with a double bed, (3rd bed on request) shower room, kitchenette, living space with TV. On the Somerset, Devon, and Dorset borders, our cabin is perfectly situated for both business and leisure visitors. Balcony with open views of the town and the gorgeous Somerset countryside. Nearby: South West Rail Crewkerne. M5 (45 mins). A303 (10 mins). The Coast (30 mins) Hasebury Mill (5 mins). Yeovil (20 mins). Walk to town in 5 mins.
Our cabin is accessed via a flat tarmac footway and though adjacent stands independently from our family home in its own setting with its own views across the town and far reaching country landscape. Someone will always be on hand but you will have privacy and peace to ensure you enjoy your stay. To add to your comfort, the cabin has a TV and reclining leather sofa in addition to a 4.6ft double bed. We have installed a new shower room with hand basin and WC and provide a small selection of bathroom supplies should you forget your own. Towels are provided. The kitchenette is well equipped including the usual paraphernalia required to knock up a quick lunch or supper if you want to just snuggle in of an evening. Your Breakfast hamper will consist of a selection with something for everyone for the first couple of mornings of your stay: Cereal, bread and butter are provided along with the usual milk, sugar, tea and coffee - nothing fancy but just the job. Sit out on your own balcony with a glass of wine or cup of tea overlooking the field and you might catch a glimpse of the family of deer who frequently visit. Don't want to cook? She is great company and loves a ball game!
There is an abundance of walking and cycling routes straight from the doorstep but we don't have any designated cycle paths around here, just main roads for 2 miles and challenging hills in either direction to the quieter country lanes. The River Parrett and the Somerset Levels are wonderful nearby places to explore. The Jurassic coastline is also just 13 miles (West bay known as Broadchurch as seen on TV!) away whilst the Doone Valley in Exmoor is in the opposite direction and will take you no more than an hour by car.

A pretty stone-built terraced cottage located on a quiet street in the heart of the charming West Dorset town of Beaminster, a short walk from its excellent restaurants, pubs, food and gift shops. Beautiful walks from the door and only a short drive to the spectacular Jurassic Coast with its stunning coast walks and beaches. Dorset Cottage is a sweet little bolthole - a perfect base for a relaxing holiday and ideal for singles, couples and for small families with a baby or young child.
Nick and Jo, who look after the cottage, live around the corner with their two young children and dog, have spent the past few years exploring the area. They have put together a guide to all the wonderful things to see and do near by and are happy to advise you on activities and sites to visit during your stay. You enter a small porch area where you can store your coats, wellies and beach bags. Next is the open plan living room and kitchen. The sitting area has a very comfortable red sofa (which folds out as a double sofa bed if required) and arm chair. There is a widescreen TV and DVD player, CD player and ipod dock. The cottage is within a BT wifi hotspot (free to BT customers; available to others for a fee to BT). A selection of books and games are also provided, as well as maps and guidebooks. There's a round pine table with four chairs and a well-equipped modern kitchen with gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, a good set of pots, pans and utensils and a full set of crockery. Tea and coffee are provided. Upstairs there is a comfortable double bedroom with ample cupboard space, armchair and TV, and a light and airy white bathroom with WC, sink, bath and shower (above the bath). There is a quiet private garden with seating area and a lovely view of the church. We welcome babies and toddlers and can provide a travel cot and bedding, high chair and booster seat. We may be able to provide other kit if you need. We can recommend local adult DBS/CRB-checked baby-sitters and things to do with young children. One well behaved small or medium dog would be very welcome.
Beaminster is a pretty, very small town, 6 miles inland from the coast. Its golden stone buildings lie nestled amongst the surrounding gently rolling hills and woodland. We love the local food shops, all within a short walk of the cottage, including the excellent Fruit 'n' Two Veg, Nick Tett the butcher, the Evershot Bakery which sells very good granary bread, and Brassica Mercantile for upmarket treats. And there is also a smart little Co-op open 7am-11pm, 7 days a week for papers, groceries, drinks and other essentials. There are several good cafes, including Tangerine, The Trading Post, Cilla and Camilla and The Steak Out and two excellent restaurants - Brassica and The Ollerod. And there are browsing shops too, including Cilla and Camilla with clothes, kitchenware, gifts and toys, Pomegranate with kilims and Spanish pottery, Brassica Mercantile for imaginative gifts, homeware and food and Partners in Design for fabrics and luxury homeware . There is a beautiful active church, which has perhaps the finest tower in Dorset, a fascinating museum and a brilliant playground and playing fields. Footpaths lead out into the countryside in every direction. Our favourite walk is to the lovely village of Netherbury, and then on down the valley and through the woods to Stoke Abbott with a stop for a delicious lunch at the New Inn, and then back home via Gerrards Hill and a great view of Golden Cap, Lewesden Wood and beyond...

This self-contained garden room is located in the pretty small town of Beaminster, which is set amid rolling hills and 8 miles from the Jurassic Coast. It's in a quiet street and the town square with restaurants, cafes and shops is just a few minutes walk away. Lovely walks from the door. Suitable for a couple or single.
This garden room offers basic facilities and is comfortable and snug (central heating). It is one room with an en suite shower/loo. The bedroom/living area is the size of a bedroom and the kitchenette is half as much space again. The kitchenette has a breakfast bar, a two ring gas hob, a small fridge, a microwave, a toaster, and a kettle. There is a separate shower room/loo. The bed is a comfortable king size. There is a TV (includes radio channels). The glass front door looks out onto a patio cottage garden (part of our larger garden) where there is a garden table and two chairs. No Wifi - the area has 4G.
Beaminster is a picture-perfect small West Dorset town and a lovely place for a get-away. It has restaurants (two highly rated ones, 'Brassica' and 'Olerod') and cafes (including the vegetarian cafe, 'The Trading Post') and interesting shops set around a square. It is surrounded by rolling hills with great walks. The garden room is also a good base for those who want to explore the surrounding area. West Dorset is known for its lovely countryside, gorgeous coastline, pretty villages and small towns (Far From The Madding Crowd, and TV's Broadchurch were filmed here). Nearby Bridport is a vibrant, arty town with an arts centre, arthouse cinema, a vintage quarter and a bustling weekly antique/bric a brac market (Wednesdays and Saturdays). The golden cliffs of West Bay are just down the road from Bridport. A scenic coast road connects Bridport and Weymouth (through the lovely village of Abbosbury on chesil beach). In the other direction is Lyme Regis, a small, elegant seaside town. Dorchester is our biggest nearby town (18 miles) and is famous for Maiden Castle, the largest Iron Age hill fort in Europe.

This newly built cabin with ensuite shower is tucked away in its own private garden but close to the hosts family home with its delightful wild garden bordered by woodland. Very secluded and peaceful, it is situated just outside the attractive rural village of Winsham in South Somerset and is within short walking distance of the village shop and pub. Winsham is on the borders of Devon and Dorset and within easy reach of the Jurassic coastal towns of Lyme Regis, Bridport and West Bay.

A rural bolthole in a recently converted period barn - comfort and style with just a nod to luxury. Part of a small cluster of outbuildings behind our family home and surrounded by 14 acres of fields. Designed for year round use with lovely outside spaces for summer and a cosy interior and wood-burning stove for colder months. A peaceful retreat from the modern world. Simple creative design and attention to every detail to give you everything you want but nothing you don't need. Perfect for couples with or without kids / babies or anyone looking for a stylish relaxing escape.
Sleeping: Bedroom with king-size bed and super comfy mattress. Fitted wardrobe and under-bed storage drawers. Additional mezzanine bedroom above the main living space offering either 1 super-king bed or 2 single beds. Again with super comfy mattress. Chest of drawers for storage. Sleeping arrangements can be worked out however is most suitable for you...however if you are visiting with kids our thinking in setting the place up was that younger kids might be best in the main bedroom allowing earlier nights for them and freeing up the living space and mezzanine for parents. Older kids can use the mezzanine giving parents the main bedroom. Please note that the mezzanine is accessed via a "fixed ladder" - this has wide flat treads like stairs and grab rails but is steep and we recommend that it is not used by children under 7. We have a teenage daughter available for babysitting...! Living space: The main living space has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and plenty of comfy seating. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric fan oven and we have tried to include all the items which we often find missing or of poor quality when we stay away ourselves. Decent pans, sharp kitchen knives, weighing scales and a well stocked drawer of kitchen utensils. There is a selection of board games, TV and DVD player, DAB radio with Bluetooth connection, a small selection of books and plenty of information on the local area including an OS Map which you are welcome to borrow for walks and exploring. Bathroom: The bathroom has a large flat-bottomed bath with shower, plenty of fluffy towels, a bar of nice soap and Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner. Please note: the bathroom is only accessible via the bedroom so guests using the mezzanine for sleeping will need to go via the bedroom to access the bathroom. Outside: There is your own parking area with space for 2 cars and a private garden area with small lawn, large gravelled area, plenty of outdoor seating and a fixed BBQ area. The utility room is separate from the main building and has a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, plenty of space for hanging outdoor clothes and room for at least 2 bikes. We have 14 acres of fields surrounding the house which you are welcome to explore providing that they aren't being used for livestock. Local area: This area is a haven for food fans, great for walking, cycling and coastal activities. There is loads more information about us and the local area on our website - www.ciderhousedorset.co.uk
The Cider House is 4 miles from the thriving, creative, and vibrant market town of Bridport. This is next to West Bay with access to The Jurassic Coast, the only natural World Heritage Site in England. West Dorset is a haven for food-lovers with a wide spread of local producers and fantastic cafes and restaurants and some hidden gems which we are happy to point you to! The coast and surrounding countryside is perfect for long walks, some incredible cycling (on and off-road) & water sports.

Grade 2 listed cottage built of thatch and local ham-stone has been refurbished to offer comfortable and restful accommodation. West Chinnock is near Crewkerne where you can find shopping facilities including a Waitrose store. The area is rich in fine stately homes and gardens. The entrance leads into the sitting room with an oak beam inglenook wood stove and retains the charm of an older cottage. * great location for scenic country walks * easy drive to the Jurassic coast * fresh & clean
The cottage has elm floor boards in the twin bedded rooms. A large original oak beam features above the inglenook wood burning stove in the cosy sitting room. Large elm panels line the steepish, carpeted staircase to the bedrooms which have original ceiling oak beams. Bed linen, towels, logs, oil and electricity included. The integral oven in the kitchen has a ceramic hob/oven. The cottage has a Key Safe by the front door.
A very pretty golden Hamstone village with plenty of sign posted country walks close to the cottage. A lovely, local pub with beer garden and wood fires is ‘The Cat Head’ which can be found in the neighbouring village of Chiselborough. The village pub ‘ The Muddled Man ‘ has a large spacious garden. The church of St. Mary’s has Sunday services and the church bells will sometimes peel adding to the village atmosphere.
  • Grand chalet.

A quelques minutes à pied.
