The history behind the Driftwood Spars is as curious and unusual as the pub itself. The Driftwood Spars' name stems from the huge beams (or spars) that comprise its structure. The spars were salvaged from shipwrecks along the coast and were utilised to build the Driftwood in the 1650s. The building began life as a tin mining warehouse and since then has been a chandlery, sail making loft and fish cellar (though not all at once!), before eventually being converted into a hotel and bar in the early 1900s. Its wealth of character offers a distinctive charm, perceptible to customers old and new.

Breakfast (8-12), afternoon tea and other restaurant meals served all day means that whenever you rock up here you will not be disappointed. Restaurant/pub meals are gastro-pub style. Local beers and a good wine selection. Suitable for all; early suppers or drinks with friends until late. They are dog friendly, family friendly and you can happily sit on one of the tables outside on the village's main street and watch the world go by.

Open for takeaway.. If you walk from Trevaunance Cove west on the coast path Chapel Porth Beach is about 3 miles The walk is beautiful, a Cornish favourite. After a pretty steep climb up from Trevaunance Cove (where you may see some seals as you climb the steps) the path is then mildly undulating for the majority of the way. You pass the Wheal Coates Engine House, one of the iconic Cornish sites before the downward stretch to the beach. Both Trevaunance and Chapel Porth are surf beaches and both lifeguarded in summer. The Cafe offers hot and cold drinks and homemade Croque-Monseiur and a list of variations on this, soups and sandwiches, as well as cakes and their Hedgehog ice cream (vanilla ice cream in a cone with clotted cream on top and rolled in roasted hazelnuts). There is a small covered area to hide out of the wind for a much needed hot chocolate in winter! It's a National Trust Beach so members park for free and there is an honesty box for out of season.

The Sorting Office is in the main part of the village, just above the local general store. The postbox is outside. It was the old sorting office for the recently closed post office and has been turned into a mix of old wood sleepers, tiles and rustic-chich furniture, drawing out the old times with comfort of new. Sophie, the owner is lovely and chatty and has turned this place into a beautiful and cosy spot to have a coffee. She also ensures a fresh selection of pastries and cakes!

'Genki' on the road down to Trevaunance Cove has to be experienced on any trip to St Agnes. An unassuming hut in the trees; generally open for breakfast, brunch, coffees and cake, lunches of tapas, salads and paninis (and some alcoholic drinks).
