Now called "Drift Inn Canteen". Very talented and formerly trained owner. Very creative menu. Very "urban" selections. Great stuff! No views. Picnic tables under a canopy. Good for take out as well.

Here's one listing for dining off "The Peninsula." It's the best in Rockland. Many appetizers (think Tapas). Changing menu is totally reliable - and has been for a decade. The best in the area.

I am no expert about sushi, but, I have heard again and again it is top notch quality. It's received national attention.

Drinks & Nightlife
This has been a local hangout for decades. The restaurant is quite good, but, it's the bar scene that matters. (and there is bar food). It's "colorful". There are a lot of characters there every night. You will never be ill-treated, but, almost anything can happen.

Parks & Nature
There are two things that make staying on The St. George Peninsula compelling. One of them is easy access to the Monhegan Island Boat line - departing from Port Clyde. This is the mail boat - there are no cars, either on the ferry, or, on the island (well, almost none. There are a few "beaters" for the Inn).
This island is a preserve. There is no new building allowed. The island has all sorts of trails - and 160 ft cliffs, and, a lighthouse; remarkable bird life; a small beach for swimming; Informal eateries (good ones). Take the AM ferry out and the PM ferry back - same day. You'll be amazed.
