Really cheap. Great for takeaway or sit-down food. Try the dumplings. If it's full don't worry there are dozens of other Chinese restaurants on this stretch of Dominion Road. It's Auckland's unofficial Chinatown.

Less than an hour to the top from our place. A pleasant stroll, becoming a steepish climb but not TOO strenuous. Cars not allowed at the top but you can park a car at the bottom. Once you get to the top you can see just about everything Auckland has to offer.

The Blues once dominated the southern hemisphere's super rugby competition. Die hard fans remain ever hopeful but many turn up for the social side. There are plenty of ex All Blacks dotted around the crowd if you're people watching. And, if you're into them, a Mexican wave is inevitable. Cricket dominates summer. The Auckland Aces play on the number two ground on the Sandringham Road side and there are plenty of ODIs, T20Is and even tests here too. Purists moan about the intimate size of the ground.
