This is the oldest wine farm in South Africa . It forms part of the Constantia wine route . Apart from wine tastings there are also restaurants set in the beautiful vineyards. Jonkershuis is one of my favourites for its relaxed farmhouse feel. The wine farm is also accesible via the Hop on Hop off red bus route which departs from Cape Town city centre .

Franschhoek Valley is a great day destination wine / food route to explore . The scenery is also breathtaking and is only 1 hour out of the city .

This museum offers a diverse current perspective on South Africa with exhibitions including portraiture ; critical cartooning ; historical and contemporary clay work ; image and sound via an African choir and also the story of isishweshwe cloth. It is well worth a visit .

Great for a daytrip to the beach , great for little ones as the lagoon is shallow . This is a salt water lagoon and home to many bird varieties . Entry costs apply . It is approximately 1h30min out of the city . Pack for a daytrip as there are no stores in the lagoon .

Surfers corner is a local surfing spot and the start of Muizenberg beach which at 20km long is great for some serious beachwalking. We often walk our dogs there. Surfers corner is also home to some popular local eateries . ( Great for burgers and pizzas )
