The Breakwater Restaurant is a great place for a special occasion. Situated on a working waterfront it’s also a nice place to check out the charter boats and the day’s catch - and a sunset if you time it right. It’s about a 40 minute drive south of Makana.

Lynn’s great food is back. If you remember the old Tiki Grill in Salvo then you know! Located 5 minutes north at the North Beach Campground and Convenience Store. The spicy tuna burger is my favorite. Open lunch and dinner times. May close during mid afternoon. < 5 minute drive

If you head to Hatteras or the Ocracoke ferry (early!) you MUST stop in. Their croissants leave your fingers buttery, and the pot de crème is to die for. Hardest part is limiting the order, but why bother?! You’re on vacation. 40 minutes south in Hatteras village

Pea Island (not a separate island actually) is a great place to take a walk on a secluded beach, hike a birding trail or explore some empty waves to surf. Be careful of parking on the soft sand if you choose to stop along highway 12.
