Merida or the White City is the capital and cultural center of the Yucatan. It is almost 500 years old. There are gorgeous mansions lining Paseo de Montejo that were built during the henequen boom. You will find several museums and lots of colonial architecture. Also, if you like to shop, Merida is the location. You will find hundreds of small stores on every street or check out some of the Ultra Chic malls in Merida. Don't forget to check out the great restaurants while you are there.

The Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza are magnificent. It is a must see stop while you are in the Yucatan. Go early before the crowds get there.
