Avondale is a picturesque historic neighborhood south of downtown on the banks of the St. Johns River. There is an astonishing variety of architectural styles, and a wonderful place for a pleasant stroll under the moss draped live oaks.
There is also an area of good restaurants and retail- The Shoppes of Avondale- all within walking distance of the guesthouse.

Five Points is small hip area to the north of Avondale/Riverside. There are several good restaurants and bars, as well as an art house theater-the Sunray.
The Cummer Musuem, Jacksonville's excellent art museum is located adjacent to Five Points.
