This is about a block from our place. Great sushi and sashimi but we are not crazy about their Thai food options. They also have great cocktails.

Kingston Mines is for the tourists but if you want the best local blues, Rosa’s is the place. Check their shows and purchase advance tickets when possible. Also get there a little early if you want to sit and don’t get too picky about what you’re drinking (especially wine as they have very few options). You’re there for the music, drinks are just a bonus.

This place is not in Chicago but it’s not far and depending on their lineup may just be worth the drive or the Uber fare.

They’re now closed since Covid but we are really hoping they will open up again. This is a small concert venue that sees extreme talent before they become famous enough to pack the huge concert halls.

Yes they’re mostly a music school but.... check their performance schedule because sometimes they have really cool performances for very little money. Especially if you’re into world music.
