The Eden Project is a world-famous eco-site in mid-cornball, just around the corner from Fowey between Par and St. Austell. Showcasing both Cornish biodiversity and several biomes from other climates in their geodesic domes, the Eden Project also has Hang Loose, a clip-and-climb site great for kids and kid's at heart, and the UK's longest zip-line. Pre-booking in high season essential, but well worth a visit.

One of the true gems of the Cornish Coastline, the SWCP can be accessed from Fowey or Polruan in either direction. For a real challenge go from Polruan to Polperro (not suitable for children or those with injuries, as it is very steep and extremely challenging) or go from Fowey to Polkerris via the Gribbin, a more rolling experience with phenomenal views. Guides are available via the South West Coast Path website.

Food

Holly uses only the freshest daily catch, and while she often has a queue, her food is well worth the wait, especially as you'l be waiting at scenic Berrill's Yard, where you can watch the boats on the river, or if you're lucky, see the Lifeboat.

Owned by St. Austell Brewery, they have a wide selection of Cornish beers and gins, and a good, steady pub menu. The real draw is the view, a beautiful sight over the harbour to Polruan. Booking essential.

You wouldn't think Fowey would be a destination for pizza, but you would be wrong. Martin and the team at Buffalo source the best ingredients and have a small, comprehensive menu of great, thin-crust pizzas. They have GF options and a terrific terrace, however they do NOT accept bookings, so time your meal carefully! Great drinks while you wait, though, and if they are full their sister restaurant, Pintxo, a tapas bar in a sunny spot on the Esplanade, is a great option also .
