City/town information

You will most likely drive thru Aguilar at some point, depending on which way you travel. There are lots of upgrades going on in town at the moment, but the most exciting thing is that there is now a Gas station WITH Diesel! And prices are comparable to local towns near by. So don't fret if your tank is low! Aguilar is about 14miles from the Cowboy Cabin! It also has a grocery store called Ringo's and a brand new Mercantile with an assortment of goods.

Image result for trinidad colorado Located just north of the New Mexico border and Raton Pass, Trinidad, CO is best known for being one of the stops along the Santa Fe Trail and as the home of trappers, traders and early ranchers back in the 1800s. Trinidad would be the "next biggest town" boasting a WalMart, Big R, Safeway..etc. They also have fantastic antique store, thrift stores throughout town! One of the best activities on a nice summer day in Trinidad is to take the free trolley bus around town. Food scene

If you aren't wanting to cook and are looking for the closest place to the Cowboy Cabin, then this is the place! Hours vary, especially since Covid, but you can always call and check to make sure they are open before driving down! It has a variety of Hamburgers, sandwiches, and what I would call "Bar Food".

All-Wheel Drive suggested in wet weather

Most of the road to the Cowboy Cabin is paved, but roughly the last 5 miles are dirt road. There are roughly 2 inclines in that stretch of road that can at times make it challenging with a 2-wheel drive vehicle (when the roads are wet or it has snowed)
