Union Market is a historic food stall venue with some really great up and coming restaurants! The original idea was to allow chefs space to explore with low overhead until they could branch out and open their own spaces. Local Tip: There’s also a great rooftop space on top of Union Market! It’s a bit hidden, but ask around and someone can point you in the right direction!

Conseils aux voyageurs
Se déplacer dans les environs
Shared Transportation
Uber & Lyft are very, very easy and highly recommended ways to get around the city here (note: if one seems crazy expensive, check the other app to see if it’s cheaper - they’re based on supply/demand, so prices fluctuate quickly!). Other great - and highly recommended - ways to get around the city include Capitol Bikeshare, Shared Scooters (Lime, etc), and Car2Go. If you don’t know what any of this means or how to use any of these things, just let us know! We’re here to help :)
Se déplacer dans les environs
Public Transportation
The city’s metro and bus systems are decent ways to get around the city, but have slowed during the pandemic for some much needed repairs. They’re also significantly more empty right now than they are usually, which honestly has made me feel a little unsafe of late. The buses are definitely better than the metro and are more convenient and cleaner. If you do take the metro during busy hours (presuming we’re ever back in the office) “stand on the right, walk on the left” when on the escalators!

Emergency Veterinary Care
In case of emergency, Friendship Hospital for Animals (“Friendship”) provides 24/7 emergency veterinary care. It’s a 20/25 minute drive from the house. They saved one of our dogs lives when he got into the medicine cabinet in the middle of the night! I want everyone who stays here to know about them :)
