Be sure to visit John’s Pass, which is just minutes away from dolphin cottage! All kinds of fun activities from shopping, to bar hopping (family friendly, safe area), to snacking, to dining waterside and watching the ships roll in, and even an opportunity to kiss an alligator!

Amazing tacos, literally just a short walk away from the cottage! You order at the window and can eat outside and watch the people pass by, or they do have inside dining as well.

A couple other fun things to do
Indian Rock beach has scooter and bike rentals. A little further down, is America's largest ice cream shop (according to them) We LOVE the electric bikes. Easy to learn, you peddle when you want to, and just hit a button when you don't want to.
Tampa is about 45 minutes away and has tons of activities if you don't mind the drive.
Clearwater voted #1 beach in the USA!! We love to rent a golf cart and just cruise around that area, people watching or stopping to shop or hang out with the street performers. We always stop for milkshakes at the stand on the beach. Hulk Hogan has a home here!

Even more fun things to do
Stuck with little ones on a rainy day? Rock painting and planting/hiding is a very popular activity.
Crystal River is also a long drive at 1.5 hours, but it is a beautiful nature site you won't soon forget. Take a kayak out to explore these natural springs that are so clear, you can see 50 feet straight down! Also, during manatee seasons, you can share the waters with these friendly floating cucumbers for a very unique kayaking trip.
St. Pete's beach also has a lot of fun activities and some amazing restaurants and is only about 10 minutes away. Be sure to visit the Pier!

And another thing!
Visit John's pass for lots of fun shopping, eating and activities. You can rent jet skis, take a boat ride, board a pirate ship, or even have a drink on a floating tiki bar! They also have some unique shops, including a place that let's you get up close and personal with animals... you can also purchase a picture of yourself kissing a gator!
Be sure to keep an eye out for the sea turtles and their nests on Madeira beach (across the street!) if you are here during that season. These gentle creatures are considered endangered so when a nest is spotted, the area will be marked off with flags.
