What a great place to get coffee and a morning pastry after a run to the Kilauea Lighthouse! Okay, I don't run anymore, but this is my daughter's ritual when she is here. Great baked goods!
Actually called Lighthouse Bistro. Walking distance from the house. Excellent food, artistically served. For Kauai, this restaurant is a good value. Open air setting. Most reasonable Happy Hour prices on the island.

Tiki decor. Descendants was filmed here. You can sit where George Clooney sat. Good pizza. I recommend the Wednesday night luau. Quality entertainment, good food. Short drive home. :-)

Great funky island bar and restaurant. The world's best fish and chips here. They make them with mahi mahi, and serve them with waffle fries. Ask for the pink (chipotle) sauce. LOVE THEM!

Really good burgers. It has been here for years. More local character than Bubba's (Kapa'a and Hanalei). Bubba's is okay, too.

Long drive from Kilauea, but if you are down there, this is a fun restaurant. They know how to do fish right here. Someone said it was like Gilligan's Island.

Sample every coffee they have for free. If you arrive at closing time (5pm) bring your travel mug, and they will fill it for free. Love the gift shop. Ice cream, cookies, light lunches.

Awfully fun to browse. VERY HIGH END shopping. Like Gumps in San Francisco, only island style. Look for the owner's adorable Jack Russell terriers, Olive and Mochi. And, there is a shop cat, too

Our favorite family beach! 2.8 miles from the house. So easy to have a sunset BBQ here. Park under the ironwood trees, and walk a few feet to the water. Porta-potties. Great for boogie boarding.

If you are a Rotarian, make up here! They meet Thursdays at noon. There cannot be a more beautiful meeting venue in the whole world. Have a look around this hotel. It's gorgeous.

In 1958, Mitzi Gaynor sang, "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair" here. Stunning beach. Uncrowded. Very short walk down a trail to get there. Have spent many hours at this gorgeous beach.

You have to secure an online reservation for this beach and the trailhead to Hanakapiai Beach & Falls, and the Kalalau Trail. If you don't succeed, you can pay $35/person for a shuttle to take you there.

It takes all day to get to Koke'e, but if you have not done it, do it! At the lodge, we love the chili and the lilikoi chiffon pie. Feed the chickens. Drive up to the Kalalau lookout. Awesome view.

Hit this place when you first land. The best prices on the island, but the packages are large. Don't buy food souvenirs anywhere else until you see what Costco has.

Beautiful old, historical home, now has shops and restaurants. Worth a browse. The train ride is a little lame, but feeding bread to 100 pigs was fun. Do not miss the free Koloa Rum tasting room!!

Such a fun place. Great gift shop. Gorgeous tasting room. Always take my visitors here. Taste all their rums, the rum cake, the chocolate rum sauce and the Mai Tai mix for free.

Love this trail to the top of the mountain. Beautiful top of the world views. Not recommended if you are afraid of heights. Make sure to take the East Trail which is much more pleasant than the hot, dry West Trail. Only 8 parking spaces.

They have done a beautiful job with this place. They charge admission to the site, but have generous senior discounting, lifetime passes, etc. Educational. Scenic.
