Just round the corner from our flat, this is easily the best Vegan / Vegetarian restaurant in Aberdeen. It has amazing salads, great coffee, and a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. Sometimes they have live music events in the evening which is "Bring Your Own Booze" (BYOB), and also sometimes host yoga and wellbeing events. See website for full details of opening times and events. http://foodstorycafe.co.uk

Easily one of the best restaurants in Aberdeen. The food and atmosphere is superb, with stunning decor and an open front kitchen where you can see the chefs preparing your food. On a budget we recommend the delicious Turkish Meze Starter. It features a variety of small hot & cold Turkish dishes served with hot pitta bread, and costs around £8 per person (min 2 people). Great value, extremely delicious and filling! If you are feeling particularly hungry and don't mind splashing out a bit more, for around £25-30 per person you can get the above Meze plus 3 main courses, desert and Turkish tea or coffee. There is a vegetarian, meat & seafood option. http://nargilerestaurant.co.uk

This is our favourite authentic Japanese/Korean restaurant in Aberdeen. The food is excellent, but seems to be at its best on the weekend when Chef Jang himself is working. It has a cool rustic Japanese style decor and friendly staff. We highly recommend the Katsu Curry, Crunch Roll, Salmon Roll and Philadelphia Roll. If you go between 5-7pm you can take advantage of the discounted 'early bird' menu. http://www.yorokobibycj.co.uk

Located in Stonehaven in a friendly and lively pub, with stunning views of Stonehaven harbour and outdoor seating. The marine serves an excellent selection of seafood and other dishes, with a wide selection of local and international craft beers. We highly recommend the Salmon Skink Bread Bowl. This is an adaptation of a traditional Scottish Fish Soup, called "Cullen Skink". The dish contains fish, potato, onions and cream, and is served inside a crust bread bowl. Ideal For a rainy day, looking out onto the harbour.

Sightseeing

The Iconic Duntottar Castle, steeped in history, and set upon a cliff top overlooking the stunning North East Coast of Scotland, this is not to be missed. The castle is about 3 km south of Stonehaven or 15km south of Aberdeen and easily accessible by bus. The surviving buildings are largely of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been fortified in the Early Middle Ages.
