About an hour from Queenstown, and a lovely drive by the lake... Not a big town or much shopping, but lovely wilderness views and access to walks such as the Routeburn Track and Dart river jet rides and fun yaks. Also an area where Lord or the Rings filmed.

You can walk or bike (lovely ride) from the Arrow River in Arrowtown out to the Bungy Bridge (and back if like a longer ride) or get picked up at the Bungy Bridge. One way it is an achievable ride for most bike riders.
