Longer journeys cost £2 for each extra 30 minutes. Tip: Each bike release code is valid for 10 minutes and only at that docking station. Bikes are valuable so don't let anyone see your code before you use it. Find out what you pay to hire a bike. Remember, if you're not using the bike, dock it back! Tip: If the bike is unsafe to ride, please let us know it needs repairing by pressing the 'Fault' button on the docking point within 10 seconds of docking it. Come and swim in the pools of champions, in one of London 2012’s best-known venues. Important Information: In preparation for the London 2016 LEN European Aquatics Championships at the London Aquatics Centre this May, there will be no access to use the gym, fitness classes, Competition Pool, Training Pool, Diving Pool or crèche from Sunday 1st May to Tuesday 31st May 2016. Better Swim School lessons and Tom Daley Diving Academy lessons will resume on Monday 6th June. We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please note that the closest facilities to the London Aquatics Centre that you can use in May are: • Copper Box Arena, E20 EHB • Better Gym, East Village, Stratford, E20 1BD • King's Hall Leisure Centre, E5 0NU • Leytonstone Leisure Centre, E11 4LA Please visit Better's website for more information about the closure and how it will affect you. Designed for swimmers of all abilities, from absolute beginners to Olympic and Paralympic champions, London Aquatics Centre offers a wide-ranging programme of activities, from fun and family sessions, lane swimming, diving, swimming lessons, diving lessons, community swim sessions and other aquatic disciplines. The facilities are second-to-none – so much so that Tom Daley has made it his new training ground. In 2012, the spectacular London Aquatics Centre, designed by architect Zaha Hadid, provided the breathtaking backdrop to countless world records and Ellie Simmonds’ dramatic swim into the history books. Now everyone will be able to feel the thrill of swimming under that familiar wave-like roof, and enjoy some of the best community swimming facilities in the country for the same price as local leisure centre swimming pools. And, with a total seating capacity of 2,500, watch out for world class events taking place in future. There is plenty of useful information for people planning to come down and swim available on Better's website.

Walking or cycling along the River Lea and Regent's Canal is always a pleasant experience. Step of the busy pavement, onto the towpath and recharge your batteries. The River Lea (or Lee) in England originates in Marsh Farm, Leagrave, Luton in the Chiltern Hills and flows generally southeast, east, and then south through east London where it meets the River Thames, the last section being known as Bow Creek. It is one of the largest rivers in London and the easternmost major tributary of the Thames. Its valley creates a long chain of marshy ground along its lower length, much of which has been used for gravel and mineral extraction, reservoirs and industry. The river has been canalised to provide a navigable route for boats into eastern Hertfordshire, known as the Lee Navigation. While the lower Lea remains somewhat polluted, its upper stretch and tributaries, classified as chalk streams, are a major source of drinking water for London. A diversion known as the New River, opened in 1613, abstracts clean water away from the lower stretch of the river for drinking.[1] Its origins in the Chilterns contribute to the extreme hardness (high mineral content) of London tap water. The Regent’s Canal is one of London’s best-kept secrets - a peaceful haven often hidden by the surrounding buildings. Today it is well-loved by boaters, walkers and cyclists all looking to escape the capital’s busy streets, but this gem of a canal was all too nearly converted into a railway. The canal links a diverse cross-section of London’s attractions. From the colourful collection of narrowboats at Little Venice basin in Maida Vale, it runs on through Regent’s Park. Here it is overlooked by a vast aviary - part of London Zoo. In Camden, it passes the craft stalls and quirky clothing shops of the famous market, a centre for London’s alternative culture.
