The FDR Memorial is our favorite monument. It is human scaled, accessible, and even educational. Water features and climbing areas make it kid friendly. The Tidal Basin area is a good destination.

The Botanic Gardens are enjoyable for all ages. We like to combine a visit to the Gardens, a visit to the Air & Space museum, and lunch at the American Indian Museum.

Very interesting exhibits. The flight simulators are fun if you don't get motion sickness. Don't bother with the food here, unless you want fast food; eat at the American Indian Museum.
