Hop on Hop off trolley is a good way to see all the city has to offer. You can walk up the hill to catch the trolley at the visitors center (.7 miles) or drive (free Parking there).
Giant Hobbit House! 3.5 miles from Dragonfly Cottage. Famous mountain hotel, beautiful sunset views and large fireplaces surrounded by rocking chairs. Go have a glass of wine, beer and drink in the Sunset. Come back to town for dinner and know you have a better room!

If you have not bought tickets they are pricey $65 ea but Paula can get you a $10 discount just ask. Or buy ticket on line 7 days in advance and get the same discount. Paula keeps her horse there and goes daily to feed and ride. Ask her about it.

Close 30-40 min beautiful drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway. 360 degree view after 15min hike. Lovely picnic (ask Paula for basket) area. 10-20 degrees cooler than Asheville all year. Lovely sunset and star watching.

The best stuff! The chair in parlor and handblown glass floor lamp are from there. Also great gifts. For years when I visited Asheville before living here, I would always go to New Morning Gallery and buy christmas gifts, no matter what time of year! Also great consignment shops in this area behind the Fig, across the tracks hidden away.
