Watch cheese being made at this popular tourist spot. You can buy a variety of cheeses, made on the premises, as well as many other food and gift items - including delicious fudge, etc. They offer a decent wine selection to complement all those cheeses too.

Parks & Nature
Beautiful park, not far away. Several hiking trails to choose from (The Appalachian Trail runs through the Park), picnic spots and a very nice Visitor Center. Take a hike from the Visitor Center to a rock outcrop where the panoramic scenery will dazzle you. Various festivals held during the year too...check out the Grayson Highlands Fall Festival to be held on Sept. 23-24, 2017!

Great for picnics and hiking. Overlooks that will take your breath away! Gives a superb view of West Jefferson and surrounding area. Don't forget your camera.

If you start your day here, you can travel the Parkway (toward Asheville, NC) and catch many beautiful overlooks, picnic spots and hiking opportunities. In my book, this fits the "Romance" category! Located at milepost 304.4 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Stroll around before, or after you embark on the hiking trail that extends from the Center. The Viaduct is a construction marvel (you will feel as if your car is driving in the clouds) and the view is spectacular!

Drive to Damascus, VA and rent a bike. They'll drive you to the top of the mountain and you can enjoy a 17 mi. downhill ride. Or ride from Damascus to Abingdon, VA. You can also take your own bike and they'll help you get to and from. Other rental business are in Damascus too, so check for the deal that works for you!
