One lesser known spot is Jack’s Peak. It is within 10 minutes from downtown Monterey. It is the biggest contiguous Monterey Pine forest in the world. It is one of our favorite hikes. It is relatively easy and you have a view of the entire Monterey bay and even Santa Cruz on a clear day.
