On Main St. Bar Harbor, on right as you come from the south, after the public playing field on the left. Reservations, but also a walk-in restaurant on the side.

rent a canoe at the northern end of the pond. Or just swim with your kid. This water is quite swimmable -- unlike the ocean.

A lovely walk up the trail, not too demanding. Access from the parking lot on Route 3 just a few minutes from our house.

This is by far the best beach on the island, great fun for kids. The water is cold! Nearby on the East side is Great Head, with path up from beach. And across, the beehive, for intrepid climbers.
