Traditional Construction // The traditional Megalo Kafeneio, or Grand Café, in Agiou Vasiliou square, features a Parisian layout and a Viennese style. It is the city’s trademark since 1898 when it first opened. Aristocratic, cozy but also traditional, famous for the way of preparing and servicing the Greek coffee.

A beautiful neoclassical building, the Malliaropouleio Theater was built 1905-1910 by A. Metaxas with funds from the Lagkadian doctor I. Malliaropoulos. Artists such as M. Kotopouli, A. Veakis, and S. Vempo have appeared on this stage.

Tegea was the most powerful city in ancient Arcadia and this modern museum beautifully showcases selected pieces from its Neolithic period up to Late Roman times. The museum comprises 4 galleries and an outdoor sculpture exhibition of inscriptions and grave steles. A text is provided in both Greek and English.
