Sightseeing
Have a romantic walk all the way from my place to Cathedral Square. You will walk along the footpath to Botanic Garden and alongside Avon River. You will pass the Bridge of Remembrance which was reopened from the earthquake repair, RE-Start shopping mall (shops made of commercial containers), and more.

Parks & Nature
Botanic Garden and Hagley Golf Course (Cheeeeap for a rounding!) are located in North Hagley. Cricket Oval is in South Hagley Park. Very safe to take a walk in the night time too.

You will get an idea what the aboriginal culture in NZ is about - maori life, giant bird "moa", etc.
I'd like to recommend to go to "Christchurch Art Gallery" for modern art as well. Both places are very near.
