A bar in grain barge,with a Thai fusion restaurant upstairs. The brewer owns the bar, so the beer is great (and has lagers). Live music on Fridays starts 10.30pm, so you'll be in for a late night!

This is our local - a basic pub with (very) cheap cooked food and generally clean and friendly. Also shows all the big sporting fixtures! Mark goes most Wednesday evenings....

The best local pizza delivery service by far, with pizza made by an Italian family to an Italian recipe. SOOO much better than the rest.

If you want to sit by the river and enjoy some great bar snacks, or sit inside for a la carte food, this is a lovely spot. Ample parking, too, and very peaceful.

Burghley House and Gardens are just 15 minutes away, and it's free to take a stroll among the deer there. It's worth paying to see the house for its art. Really good cafe/restaurant on site

Once Europe's biggest man-made lake, Rutland is also an excellent trout fishery. Mark, your host, can guide you if you'd like to fish.
