Sightseeing
This is a State Park on the banks of the American River where gold was discovered by James Marshall in 1848, triggering the California Gold Rush. It`s a great place to see what a gold rush town looked like back in the day, kick back with a picnic by the river, or visit the Argonaut Cafe in town for some delicious eats. I often pair this with a visit to nearby Gold Hill Winery which offers decent reasonably priced wines along with spectacular valley views from their deck, making another lovely picnic opportunity.

Hidden Falls Regional Park
7587 Mears Pl30 miles of gentle multi-use trails located in native oak woodland. This is an extremely popular park, and I would recommend visiting it on a week day early in the morning if possible. Lake Clementine is small picturesque lake on the North Fork American River Canyon. You can hike, bike or drive to the lake, and see the impressive waterfall flowing over the dam in winter and spring. Upper Clementine is accessible via a 1.5 mile switchback unpaved road, and offers a popular swimming hole suitable for families. The beach here is covered in river rock, so I would advise beach chairs, which I can provide if needed. Lower Clementine is limited to boat access, and is the perfect location to launch your kayak. You will need to pay for parking in lower Clementine. Access by car to lake is open for recreation seasonally from sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset. You can also hike to Lower Clementine year round.

Katrinas is a popular breakfast and lunch destination for locals. In addition to great food, there is also outdoor seating. I'm not a huge breakfast person, but I love this place! There is often a line of people waiting to get in, but if you go outside peak breakfast hours you can usually avoid it.

News Flash: Old Town Pizza has announced they will be moving to a new location even closer to the Airbnb in early 2022.

Auburn Thai Garden has a good selection of typical and tasty Thai dishes at a reasonable price. The restaurant is very noisy, so I usually order take out if I want something during peak hours.

Owned by the folks that brought us Auburn Ale house, the Annex offers a decent selection of craft beers, a small but yummy dining menu, in the heart of Old Town Auburn, without the noise if the Auburn Ale house. I especially enjoy sitting at one of the window seats where you can watch what's going on in the Old Town square.

Finally, they are starting to offer local music during the week and weekends.

Yoga Reclaimed is run by Ryan and Jaime Bailey, both talented and passionate practioners devoted to offering an inclusive and fulfilling experience. There are several sessions per day offered by various staff members, including Ryan and Jaime , so you should be able to find one that aligns with your skill level and interest. The studio is located 1.8 miles from the apartment, so you can walk or drive there. You can rent mats and towels at the studio. Tracy Huffacker at Vinyard Salon is top notch hair stylist. Although she is typically booked months in advance you might get lucky with cancellation. The salon also offers mani/pedis, although I have never used their service.
