Beautiful park system right in Minneapolis. Lots of trails, gardens, swimming beach, etc. They rent mountain bikes & XC skis.

Beautiful park and falls in the city. Lots of trails and open space. My favorite walk is down from the falls to the Mississippi. Also a good, simple sea food restaurant, Sea Salt, in the pavilion. For Sea Salt which is counter service, the lines can be long on a nice day to order food so plan on enjoying the outdoors.

FKA Lake Calhoun. Also nearby and connected Harriet, Cedar and Lake of the Isles. The heart of the Minneapolis. Great place to get out for a walk, run, bike, paddle, fishing, picnic or swim. There are paved bike and walking trails around these beautiful urban lakes. In summer there are kayak, canoe, and SUP rentals. Bde Maka Ska is connected via water and bike/walking paths to Lake Harriet, Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake so this is where I recommend you rent a kayak, SUP or canoe to explore the connected lakes. Great people watching too.

The Como conservatory in St. Paul is a wonderful place to go on a cold or rainy day. There is also a zoo.
