Candelaria

The road between the capital and the south of the island hosts some of the most charming villages, where you can take a bath and eat fresh fish without crowds. Radazul and Tabaiba These two small towns allow you to take a dip in their coquettes black sand beaches. In Radazul you can also practice scuba diving to contemplate the beauty of the islands in its seabed. Candelaria The visit to the Basilica of the Virgin of Candelaria is compulsory. She is the patron of the Canary Islands and the "brunette virgin". To get there, walk from the old fishing port to the plaza, enjoying the path populated by low white houses. In the square, have a beer or a coffee in sight of the formidable statues of the Menceyes (aboriginal kings) while the sea crushes at your feet. At the other end of Candelaria, there is also a long coastal avenue for a walk on a path of wood. Near the end, a small beach to cool off before eating at any of the interesting restaurants on the avenue or taking a drink at Tasiri. El Puertito de Güimar Another magnificent village to make a stop and take a bath, have a beer or eat (picture above). It is especially interesting if you are travelling with pets because there is a beach for dogs there. Tajao One of the best places on the island to eat fresh fish and, once again, take a bath (picture below)! CAMINO AL SUR: PRIMAVERA ETERNA El camino entre la capital y el sur de la isla alberga algunos de los pueblos con más encanto, donde darse un baño y comer pescado fresco sin multitudes. Radazul y Tabaiba Estos dos pequeños pueblos permiten darse un baño en sus coquetas y recogidas playas de arena negra. En Radazul se podrá también practicar submarinismo para contemplar la belleza de las islas en sus fondos marinos. Candelaria La visita es obligada a la Basílica de la Virgen de Candelaria (foto arriba), patrona de Canarias, la "virgen morena". Para llegar a ella entrad caminando desde el viejo puerto pesquero hacia la plaza, disfrutando del camino poblado de bajas casitas blancas. En la plaza, tomad una cerveza o un café a la vista de las imponentes estatuas de los Menceyes (reyes aborígenes) mientras el mar rompe a vuestros pies. En el otro extremo de Candelaria, también hay una larga avenida costera por la que dar un paseo por un camino de maderos. Casi al final, una pequeña playa en la que refrescarte antes de comer en alguno de los interesantes restaurantes de la avenida o tomar una copa en el Tasiri. El Puertito de Güimar Otro magnífico pueblo para hacer una parada y darse un baño, tomar una cerveza o comer. Especialmente interesante si viajáis con animales porque hay una playa para perros. Tajao Uno de los mejores lugares de la isla para comer pescado fresco y, una vez más, ¡darse un baño!
