An up market pub, this is the place to be any day of the week, especially on the weekends. Great food in the restaurant and always busy in the bar. Bookings on weekends required for dinner.

Cute cafe on the main strip of Sorrento. A good selection of salads and pastas. Most of the food is pre-prepared and then served to order. It does get really busy on weekends and nice days here. The service can be a little up and down, some times it's great, sometimes really bad. But they do have one of the nicest little gardens to sit in, so give it a shot!

But they do have one of the nicest little gardens to sit in, so give it a shot!
Great place for drinks & food (lunch or dinner) with a great view. Perfect for both families, or just the adults as there is a great big lawn area looking out onto the bay. There is also a bus that runs from here and drops off near our house, so might be best to check that out if you plan on a few drinks!

A good half hour drive from our house, this is the pick of the bunch of cafe's in the Mornington area. Well worth a drive back up to the main strip of Mornington for some shopping and a wander around.

A simple, yet quality little cafe, this is where the Rye locals eat. A big selection of food on offer, this is perfect for a low key breakfast or lunch. It's only really small and does get busy in summer.

Parks & Nature
If you’re looking for a longer walk which will be a few hours round trip from the house, then the Fort Nepean Walk is great! The park is located at the very tip of the Mornington Peninsula, with outstanding coastal scenery and panoramic views of Bass Strait, the Rip and Port Phillip Bay.
Explore the military forts and tunnels, discover the historic Quarantine Station, view the memorial where Prime Minister Harold Holt went missing or simply enjoy the coastal surrounds.
This walk takes place on a bitchumen road, so you’ll need footware. There is also a bus that runs along the entire track if you’re not up to walking the whole track. It’s about $10 / person.

The park is located at the very tip of the Mornington Peninsula, with outstanding coastal scenery and panoramic views of Bass Strait, the Rip and Port Phillip Bay.

Cape Schanck Lightstation is a part of Parks Victoria. There is a large national park surrounding the lighthouse grounds with a boardwalk down to the ocean at the base of the cliffs and numerous walking tracks into the surrounding area. People have been visiting the rugged coastal landscape of Bushrangers Bay since the early 1800’s. The diversity of the environment combined with the ever present sounds of Bass Strait and a lighthouse in the background make it a walk to stimulate the senses.

Rye Ocean beach is just a short drive form the house and is one of the most easily accessible beaches on the Peninsula. This is great for a walk with the family, or surf, but only for experienced surfers. The waves here can get really big often, and there are lots of strong rips and rocks.
Having said that, it can also be quite calm on nice sunny days in Summer. There is no life guard on patrol.
One of the few beaches to have a lifeguard on Patrol (only in Summer holidays), Gunnamatta is a great surf beach that always has waves. This beach can also get very large surf quite regularly (mostly in the colder months), but is more friendly in the summer months. Swim only in the flags as the rips are really strong.

If you're coming to the Peninsula for the food & wine scene, then this is the place to stock up! They have a big selection of all the local gourmet food & wine produced in the area. If you don't mind spending a little extra $$$ on quality produce, then this is well worth the drive. Wines, cheese, spreads, fruit & veg. Yum! They also have a cafe here, and a play ground across the road for the kids!

If you don't mind spending a little extra $$$ on quality produce, then this is well worth the drive. Wines, cheese, spreads, fruit & veg. Yum! They also have a cafe here, and a play ground across the road for the kids!

Nice little local micro brewery creating a selection of craft beers. Go on the weekends when they have an American style BBQ for a mouth watering selection of smoked meats! One of our favourite little places.
