This is one of my favorite hikes! It overlooks Lake Michigan and Empire Beach on Lake Michigan.
Watch out for poison ivy. It is best to stay on trails because there is poison ivy everywhere!

This is a must do for visitors. Not for the faint at heart. It looks easier than it is. You can get to Lake Michigan from the dunes, but it is about a 3 mile hike. Kids love the dunes!

Kayaking, Canoeing, Tubing! This is your headquarters! Also a fun little shop with Michigan memorabilia and snacks. I do this trip several times a summer. The end of the river empties into Lake Michigan with one of the most spectacular views of Northern Michigan. It’s is breathtaking!

Riverside Canoe Trips

The end of the river empties into Lake Michigan with one of the most spectacular views of Northern Michigan. It’s is breathtaking!

The trip to Mackinaw City from Traverse City is about 2 hr and 20 mins. Then the ferry boat ride to the island is about another 30-45 minutes (ferry costs $$ per passenger). The island is spectacular, and a must see for tourists. You can rent bikes, rent a horse drawn carriage, or walk around the island. The entire island is only about 9 miles, with interesting sites/stops along the way. In town there are many shops, restaurants and events going on. The fudge is to die for! The Grand Hotel is GRAND!
