Sightseeing
Located past the cabin approximately 2 miles, this is one of my favorite quick hikes to do. Its a circle, so you don't see the same scenery twice, and relatively easy for any ability level. The trailhead is located inside the campground.

***There is not cell phone reception at Herring Cove, so make sure to plan accordingly.

National Forest Development Road Fh11This is one of my favorite hikes to do. The beginning is relatively steep, as you climb past a roaring river and waterfall. It circles around a lake with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, then descends upon the same trail you climb on.
***There is not cell phone reception at Herring Cove, so make sure to plan accordingly.
This hike has absolutely beautiful views of Sitka and the Sound. There is a choice to start at the top of Harbor Mountain Road (recommended) or at the base of Gavin Hill in town. You will have to figure out a ride or take a taxi to get back to your vehicle, so keep that in mind.

A rigorous hike that takes you to splendid views of the city and surrounding islands. You have the option of actually climbing the arrowhead, but beware that it is steep. Bring lots of water, there isn't rivers or streams once you get to elevation.
