You can climb late in the autumn and eary spring because of mild temperatures caused by the sea.

The Trsat Tower, on a 138-meter-high hill, is a strategically exhilarating viewpoint dominating Rijeka and an impressive strip of river Rječina. In this spot, from the prehistoric times, was the Liburnian observatory from where it was controlled from the interior to the sea. The Romans used this location at the time of the defense system, so-called. Liburnian limes, whose starting point was Tarsatika, a town fortress, on the site of today's Old Town of Rijeka. The colossal view of the remains of this limes on the opposite shores, Catherine and Calvary, as well as the entire area of the Old Town of Rijeka, is extensively provided from the plateau of Trsat Castle.
