Icy air streams across your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the view nearly takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Mittelland up to the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch glacier, bordered by four thousand metre peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 metres above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

You gently float up to First in the security of the gondola. But then it gets airy: On the two Flying Fox version, First Flieger and First Glider, at up to 80 km per hour, on the suspension bridge of the First Cliff Walk or on the agile Mountain Carts with the wind in your hair. You simply cannot plan adventure. You find one. On First that is a certainty.

Lake Bachalpsee travels around the world as a postcard. However: no photo are able capture the radiance of the lake. You need to go there and see it for yourself. That doesn't require much effort. Lake Bachalpsee can be reached from First on foot in less than an hour.

Viewing platform with unique view of the entire valley. The summer toboggan run is an experience for young and old, as is the fly-line where you float through the trees on a harness. At night you can enjoy a 3-course candlelit sky-dinner.

In summer, the Männlichen area is the starting point for plenty of walking trails. During the winter season the slopes invite you to leave your tracks in the snow. A tobogganing run starts from Männlichen down to Grindelwald.

There are 160 km of mountain bike trails in the Jungfrau Region, and in Grindelwald. They do require a certain level of fitness but thankfully there are always trains and cable cars which can take the strain out of many a climb.
Bussalp, Waldspitz and Grosse Scheidegg offer wonderful single trails with an unique view over the glaciers and famous mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Details of trails on www.grindelwald.swiss/en/summer/see-and-do/activities/bike-arena/
Bikes (including mountain and e-bikes) can be rented from the sports store ‘Backdoor’ (www.backdoorshop.ch/?lang=en) or at the Intersport shop at the Sunstar Hotel)
