Just a short 5 min drive from the cottage this lovely forest has several different hiking paths for all skill levels to choose from. Our favorite is the yellow path which is good for a moderate fitness level and has a small view with interesting landscape.

This is one of our most favorite walks. About a 10 minute drive from the village of Sechelt just off the Hwy. You’ll need footwear okay to get muddy (in the off seasons and after a rain). You’ll walk through a beautiful forest, on lovely wooden boardwalks over beaver dammed ponds and end up with spectacular views of the ocean. The entire hike is about 7 km round trip and would be good for those in decent to moderate shape. If you don't feel like doing the whole hike there is lots to see in the first couple km so you won't be disappointed. There are lots of plaques set up along the way that provide insight into local history.

The Skookumchuck Narrows is a worthwhile visit. About a 50 minute drive to Egmont the Skookumchuck Narrows is a popular attraction on the Sunshine Coast where the powerful rapids and whirlpools of the changing tidal waters can be seen that flow between Jervis Inlet and Sechelt Inlet. The trail is about 8km roundtrip and passes through a scenic west coast rainforest before reaching the viewpoints at either North Point or Roland Point. These rapids are a fairly unique occurrence as the water flow can reach speeds of 30km/h as about 200 billion gallons of water passes through the narrows during a tide change. The best viewing times are when the tides change at their peak times

Wow, what a park! The views are staggering and all along this beautiful point. I would recommend moderate hiking skills if you'd like to do the whole thing, but even for a novice hiker you could shorten your hike and still have a lovely walk. A must know for this park is there are no signs from the highway or on the streets. I know, strange for a Government park. So I recommend coming with instructions so you can find your way in.

The views are amazing and it is so quiet it feels spiritual. This hike is for those in good to great shape as it's pretty much straight up hill/mountain from the start of the climb, but oh boy the view makes the workout worth it. The trail head can be hard to find but this website has some good instructions. https://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/mount-daniel/

Just a 15 minute drive from the cottage, this is a lovely little walk along the ocean in Davis Bay. It's paved so perfect for strollers. When the tide is out you can enjoy the Mission point tide pools, or fly a kite on the beach. And of course it is right across the street from Weatberries or the Wobbly Canoe so you can make an afternoon of it. One thing to note is that the walk is right along the road.

Through the winter months this is a great place to snow shoe, toboggan or cross country ski. The ski area has a warming shed, and outhouses with no place to buy food so bring your own snacks and water. But if you are wanting to connect with nature without all the glitz that comes from some resort ski areas this place is for you. From Wilson Creek at Alpha Adventures- Outdoor Adventure Store you can rent all the gear you'll need and can also book a shuttle up to the ski area. To travel up on your own you WILL need chains. They are super strict about this, and to find out more information about the skiing and road conditions check out the Facebook page.

From Egmont you can book a tour of the Inlet. This is a full day event and will be a trip you will never forget. You'll travel up the inlet to Chatterbox falls through some of the most breathtaking scenery. The tour boats are basic so maybe bring a few comforts, snacks, beach blanket, etc... Google charters for Princess Louisa Inlet to find a guide.
