Need to Know Information

If you are thinking of coming to Port Douglas for the first time I think the most important thing to think of is the season. We only have two seasons up here in the Far North, the Dry and Tropical Summertime. If you are coming for a relaxing beach holiday where the weather is almost perfect, humidity is low and rain almost non existent then the DRY season is most definitely for you. If you love the heat, don't mind humidity (it's great for your skin) and are partial to the odd spectacular thunderstorm, but appreciate the tropical climate then come during Tropical Summertime. I have to say both are spectacular and both although extremely different are my favourite. There is nothing in the world nicer than being in the middle of the Oldest Rainforest in the world amidst a tropical downpour. Every month in Port Douglas brings something different however if travelling to the Far North in February and March please be aware that it will be quiet, very quiet but very peaceful. Not too many people, not too much traffic, less queues, more parking, more space on a tour bus. Feb and March are also the months in which some of our hospitality workers have their holidays or take the down time to repair, replace and refurbish for the next busy season. Just remember that you can only swim within the Netted area in the months of October - May sue to seasonal "stingers" Winter: June - August This is the most popular time of year for visitors to the region you can swim in the sea, you can relax by the pool, you can send selfies back home to show how nice the weather is compared to our southern states! It is a busy, busy time of year and therefore we recommend if visiting on the Winter that you pre book car hire, tours and restaurants. In this booklet we will try to offer as much information as possible to have you holiday ready when you arrive. Sit back and enjoy the read!
