Hippie vibe – reminds us of when we lived in Austin 20 years ago. Lots of bars and restaurants, but in general the drinks are better than the food. The Vortex is famous for a burger and Front Page News has a New Orleans vibe.

This is not a neighborhood, but a walking/biking path that connects many great in-town neighborhoods. If the weather is nice, we highly suggest checking it out. There are so many places to explore along the Beltline and these are just a few- Krog Street Market (food stalls and restaurants), Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall, Kevin Rathbun Steak, two Urban Licks, New Realm Brewing Company, Ponce City Market (food stalls, restaurants, and shopping), Hotel Clermont (rooftop bar with a great view of the city), Paris on Ponce (shopping), and Park Tavern.

Music Venues
We prefer smaller venues for live music and here are our favorites in the East Side of Town. You won’t see big acts here, but tickets are pretty inexpensive and they often have fun cover bands.
If you are looking to see live music this is a great spot. Very small and chill vibe.

Be a Tourist in Downtown
There are tons of festivals close by, so if you are in town and want specific recommendations for the weekend you are in town, happy to let you know if there is something that we love. However, the below are ideas to check-out year round.
You can take MARTA to the Downtown area, which has many museums and attractions. The Georgia Aquarium is one of our favorites in this area and if you book ahead of time (and for an additional fee), you can do private animal encounters. It is a splurge, but we interacted with the Beluga whales and LOVED it.
