I suggest if you are coming from the airport or Dublin it's worth making a stop here to get supplies and checkout the University. Details below-
If you’re coming from Dublin you can pick up supplies for the house in Maynooth. Dunnes is a local grocery stores and stocks many Irish products. Depending on your arrival time this could be a great opportunity to explore Maynooth University. I highly recommend a visit to Pugin Hall on the grounds of the university. It is the main canteen for academics and students and the architecture is very reminiscent of the Great Hall in the Harry Potter movies. Park in Dunnes stores underground car park go through the shopping centre and exit at the main entrance. Going straight from this exit point and following the footpath, go right at the traffic lights. Kildare Castle is here so if its open you can take a look around. Go through the main gates keep walking towards the buildings directly ahead and on through the archway either to the left or right. When you get into the main courtyard the building directly ahead has a large wooden door with a smaller insert. Go through this door and into the hallway. Going left along this corridor will bring you to Pugin Hall. You can also explore the grounds and gardens in this location
