By far the hands-down top local destination. One and a half hours of scenic driving will land you at one of the geologic wonders of the west. Stunning at any time of year. Accessible and also surrounded by hiking trails, Crater Lake is a must-see!

Only one mile west of historic downtown Jacksonville, Forest Park offers grand vistas, hiking trails, small creeks, the town’s old reservoir, interpretive markers, and remnants of old gold mines.
